Match Summary: Limassol Zalmi beat Sri Lankan Lions by 6 wickets to win the Bronze Final.
A target that seemed tricky, but one which was made light weather of by one man. It was the Jawad Shah show all the way for Limassol Zalmi, who set out in pursuit of 104 in order to win this Bronze Final. The Sri Lankan Lions simply had no answer though to the Jawad onslaught as he spared none in his path.
Having struck a four and a six off the first two deliveries, he made his intentions clear as Zalmi racked up 20 off the opening over. His opening partner Umar Shah didn't let the momentum slip away at the other end himself and at no point during the chase were Zalmi behind the eight-ball. They maximized the powerplay to the fullest and ensured that the loose deliveries were put away to the fence, leaving the Lions with some soul-searching to do.
Roshan Siriwardana struck right after the powerplay although there was simply no stopping Jawad thereafter. Salman Khan chipped in with a handy cameo of his own and with each passing over, the result of the contest seemed beyond doubt. Jawad racked up a half-century and continued to butcher the bowlers and while he was eventually dismissed, it was just a consolation for a hapless Lions attack. Mind you, they fought well and tried their best to stretch this game into the last over. It didn't happen eventually as Murtaza Khan struck the one ball he faced over the fence to seal the deal with more than an over to spare.
This result means that Zalmi walk away with the third spot and the bronze to their name while the Lions have to settle for a second loss today. They will look back at this experience though and take their positives, while also knowing what they need to do in order to bounce back stronger next time out.
And he takes just one delivery to seal the deal! Done in grand style and it's a resounding victory for Zalmi who take the bronze. Limassol Zalmi win by 6 wickets with 8 deliveries to spare!
8.4 Roshan Siriwardana to Murtaza Khan, SIX RUNS! AND THE BRONZE FINAL GOES TO LIMASSOL ZALMI! Full and in the slot around off-stump. Murtaza presses forward and smashes it over long-off for a maximum to finish the match in style!
Murtaza Khan, RHB, comes to the crease
Oh dear! That pitched comfortably outside leg stump. Poor decision it must be said.
8.3 Roshan Siriwardana to Muhammad Farhad, OUT! Good length flatter ball on leg-stump. It strikes the batter in line with the stumps as he misses the tap back to the bowler on the back foot. The umpire reckons that everything is fine and it is going on to hit the stumps.
Muhammad Farhad lbw b Roshan Siriwardana 0 (3b, 0x4, 0x6)
8.2 Roshan Siriwardana to Muhammad Farhad, short and flat outside off. A swing and a miss off the back foot through the line. Dot ball.
8.1 Roshan Siriwardana to Salman Khan, full outside off-stump. Lifted in the air to wide long-off for a single off the front foot.
Roshan Siriwardana [1.0-0-14-1] is back into the attack.
Outstanding over from Gamage! It might just be a case of dragging the inevitable but it's good to see the Lions showing a fight here. They'd want Zalmi to really work hard for their runs.

That dropped catch sums up the day for the Lions, doesn't it? It just hasn't gone according to plan on the park here and they're staring down the barrel of a thumping defeat now. Limassol Zalmi require 11 runs to win off 3 overs at 3.67 RPO.
