Thanks a lot for joining us- Mohul Bhowmick and Dwaipayan Mukherjee- for this exciting game in the Big Bash League! Until next time, take care and goodbye!
Hobart Hurricanes (148 for 4) beat Melbourne Renegades by 6 wickets |
Sam Hain 51 from 36 balls | Corey Anderson 41 not out from 35 balls | Fergus O Neill 2 for 25 from 4 overs
Tim David faces the last ball of the match and hits the winning runs. Earlier in the day, he had also bowled the first ball of the match and later also picked up the first wicket. He should be fairly happy with his performance today, and might as well stake a claim to be a proper all-rounder from here onwards.
148 was always going to be an underwhelming score but Fergus O Neill came out with some gusto in his bowling. The Hurricanes were at a spot of bother when they found themselves at 48/3 but Sam Hain and Corey Anderson's cool heads on their shoulders ensured they did not experience too much turbulence from that point.
This win takes the Hurricanes closer towards challenging the top sides of the table whereas Renegades slip further down the table where a qualification to the knock-out stages would mean winning virtually every match from here.
The Adelaide Strikers will be taking on Perth Strikers at the Adelaide Oval which has hosted some iconic Big Bash contests over the years. See you for that one!
Till then, this is Mohul Bhowmick, signing off with my co-commentator Dwaipayan Mukherjee.
Sam Hain, Player of the Match: The group is a little tough at the moment, so it feels good to get the win. I have a few friends in the crowd here, and it means a lot to me for them to come and watch me play here. It was really nice to get a good knock here. It was just a cramp maybe but I have to go and get it assessed with the physio.
19.0
18.3 Peter Siddle to Tim David, FOUR! HURRICANES WIN THIS GAME! Short on middle and leg, comes back in. David gets into position early and pulls it away wide of short fine leg for a boundary! That will be that!
18.3 Peter Siddle to Corey Anderson, at a length on off and middle, comes back in. Anderson punches it to long on for a single.
18.2 Peter Siddle to Tim David, fullish and a tad wide outside off. David carves it towards deep cover and takes a single.
18.1 Peter Siddle to Corey Anderson, very full on middle and leg. Anderson manages to whip it away to deep midwicket for a single.
Corey Anderson has played an important knock as well in the other end to take Hurricanes closer to the end line. Peter Siddle comes in to bowl the penultimate over that might as well translate into the final over of the match.

Sam Hain brings up his 27th T20 fifty, his 2nd in the Big Bash but departs in the last ball of the over. The fact that Peter Siddle celebrated less and congratulated the batter for his contribution on his way back that just might prove to be the difference between the two sides tonight, speaks volumes of the quality that this knock had.
