Hobart Hurricanes Women 122/2 in 16.1 overs Lizelle Lee 77*(43) | Sophie Day 1/21 Nicola Carey 38*(41) | Kim Garth 1/18
An emphatic win for the Hurricanes here at Brisbane and they've won by a massive margin here to keep their semi finals hope alive. They need a meagre total to get here and it was a Lizelle Lee special in the end, that got them home comfortably.
They didn't really have the best of starts as Bryony Smith and Ellyse Villani fell early on. The former would be disappointed as she was dismissed off a nothing delivery and she could have stuck around to make a big contribution for her side. They were struggling at that stage but Lizelle Lee kept the scoreboard ticking over and got able support from Nicola Carey.
Carey was sloppy early on and looked really rusty. However she did the crucial job of staying at the wicket and gave company to Lizelle Lee who went berserk at the other end. She was at her belligerent best as she brought up her third fifty of the competition. Carey bided her time initially but after the 12th over even she started to up the ante. In the end, it proved to be a job too easy for the two experienced right handers as they romped home by 8 wickets.
Kim Garth bowled a fiery spell at the top and she was relentless. However luck didn't really favor her and she got only one wicket. The rest of the bowlers struggled to penetrate the Hurricanes batting line up and were hapless in front of an onslaught from Lizelle Lee. Sophie Day also picked up a wicket but she wasn't at her best. The same could be said about young Illingworth and Sutherland who were too expensive for the Stars's liking.
Hobart Hurricanes Women win by 8 wickets.
16.2 Sasha Moloney to Lizelle Lee, That is the match. On a length well wide outside off and the umpire outstretches her arms to conclude this encounter. Hurricanes win by 8 wickets and with 23 balls left.
16.1 Sasha Moloney to Nicola Carey, a full toss a tad outside off, reverse dabbed towards the short third man region for a single.
Sasha Moloney [1.0-0-7-0] comes back into the attack.
How strong is Lizelle Lee!! She swung across the line against Sutherland in that over and sent it 82 metres back into the stands. The Hurricanes are on the cusp of a victory here.

15.6 Annabel Sutherland to Lizelle Lee, slower back of a length delivery outside off, Lee tried to carve it away past point but doesn't make any contact.
15.5 Annabel Sutherland to Lizelle Lee, SIX! That is a mighty strike from Lizelle Lee and the Hurricanes just a couple of runs away from sealing this. A cross seam delivery on a length around the middle stump, an almighty swipe across the line and that goes for a 82 metre six over the deep midwicket fence.
15.4 Annabel Sutherland to Lizelle Lee, chips away the slower good-length delivery around middle towards the square leg region and takes a quick single.
15.3 Annabel Sutherland to Lizelle Lee, FOUR! That is beautifully played by Carey. On a length well outside off, driven on the rise as he bunts this down the ground and the ball beats both the mid off and the mid on fielder.
15.2 Annabel Sutherland to Lizelle Lee, FOUR! Well played by Nic Carey. On a good-length around the middle stump channel, Carey across the off-stump ever so slightly and whips it away past the mid-on fielder and it races away to the fence.
15.1 Annabel Sutherland to Nicola Carey, a slower fuller-length delivery a shade outside off, that gripped on the surface and Carey was a bit early into the attempted swing across the line.
Good comeback from Sophie Day after being hit for a boundary earlier on in the over. The Stars are all but out of this contest now and it's only a formality forthe Hurricanes from here onwards.
