5:05 pm local time (11:35 am IST): So that is all we have for you from the first match of the day at Drummoyne Oval. Now, it's time to get ready for the second game! The second Sydney Smash starts in just a little less than 30 minutes. Click here to get yourself started with the action. This is the pair of Keshav and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Lucy Hamilton is the player of the match: It's definitely a surreal feeling, going out at that today is just like having fun with my teammates and coming out with a fifer. I am enjoying myself. No, definitely (I did not think about getting a fifer today) not. I was just happy with one wicket and it's very exciting and it's great to see all the girls around me when I had it. Yesterday's training really helped me--I was talking to the bowling coach about staying my seam up and really finishing off strongly. Just having the mental idea of backing myself and being able to go out there and do what I love doing and show off my skills, so yeah that really helped. Everything is just getting around each other out a bit more and having lots of fun and just backing everyone's individual skills. We were very clear with what we are gonna do out there. Also, it's great to finish off the exams. I have been doing it for a few years, so sort of balancing it for a while now. It's just good to finish it off and finally focus on my cricket.
5:00 pm local time (11:30 am IST):
Brisbane Heat Women will by 6 wickets with 15 balls to spare!
Jemimah Rodrigues 45 (31) | Lucy Hamilton - 5/8 (4) Kim Garth 31* (20) | Annabel Sutherland - 1/27 (4)
Never for once did the Heat Women let the momentum slip! Right from the start, they were looking to match up to the asking rate. And right till the end, they kept that flow going and therefore, won the match comprehensively!
Jemimah Rodrigues was superb with her 35-ball 45, playing some top shots against some quality bowling of the Stars. Those two shots over the top against Marizanne Kapp, back to back, were standouts!
Charli Knott stayed not out again, taking responsibility and shouldering the innings to make sure that things were in order in the end. Decent contributions from Georgia Redmayne, Laura Harris and skipper Jess Jonassen ensured that the job got done without any hiccup!
Annabel Sutherland and Kim Garth were okay with the ball, but with so many options available to them, the Stars found it difficult to get the right bowler in at the right time.
So, the Brisbane Heat Women go up to 10 points and become joint table toppers. But as for the Melbourne Stars Women, their tournament now rests in the hands of other teams too!
18.0
17.3 Deepti Sharma to Jess Jonassen, flicked that for a single on the leg side. Brisbane Heat win by 6 wickets with 15 balls remaining.
Scores are level.
17.2 Deepti Sharma to Jess Jonassen, SIX!! Skipper smacks it over deep mid-wicket for a maximum.
17.1 Deepti Sharma to Charli Knott, played it across behind on the leg side and a single is taken
Deepti Sharma [1.0-0-5-0] comes back into the attack.
All the Heat need now is a couple of boundaries to seal the deal. So, the question is, can they do it this over itself? Helps their net run rate a lot in that case.

16.5 Sophie Day to Jess Jonassen, a single off it
16.4 Sophie Day to Charli Knott, fuller ball outside off and a single down the ground has been taken
16.3 Sophie Day to Jess Jonassen, a single is taken off it
Yastika Bhatia's wicketkeeping today has been slightly disappointing.
16.2 Sophie Day to Jess Jonassen, fuller ball outside off and that is a soft reverse sweep and two runs come off it
16.1 Sophie Day to Jess Jonassen, fuller ball on off stump, tapped it on leg side cautiously, no run
Sophie Day [1.0-0-6-0] comes back into the attack.
So the Heat now require less than 15 runs to win this. The quicker they do it, the better will be their net run rate and their chance of going top of the table, at least for now!
