So that will be all from this game at the Junction Oval in Melbourne, but do join us again for the final match of the day starting in a little under an hour from now. This is the pair of Mohul and Bidipto, saying good bye, keep following Sportskeeda!
Sydney Sixers Women - 160/9, beat Melbourne Stars Women - 115 all out, by 45 runs with 4 balls to spare.
Kim Garth 18 (21) and 2/9 Alyssa Healy 31 (28) | Ashleigh Gardner - 4/27
It was a run chase that could have gone differently, but once spin came on, everything fell part for the Melbourne Stars Women, as the spin trio of Gardner, Bolton and Ecclestone proved too much for the struggling Stars batting line-up.
Alice Capsey and Jemimah Rodrigues did provide a glimmer of hope, but got out at just the wrong time to hand the Sixers Women the advantage. Annabel Sutherland needed to kick on and score big, but once she departed cheaply, most hopes of winning this game were dashed. The only player remaining to make an impact was Tess Flintoff, who did indeed decide to play shots and take the attack to the opposition, but got hold out to a loose delivery at long-leg! The rest of the batting had not much to do, Kim Garth top scored, but it was in no way enough.
The fielding from the Sixers Women was top draw. Suzie Bates took four catches today, and some of the ground fielding, at any stage of the innings, was superb. The fielding backed up the bowling in every way possible.
The Melbourne Stars Women do not have even a mathematical chance now of qualifying, but as for the Sydney Sixers Women, they go top of the table with 15 points and look stronger by the day with the star-studded team they have got.
Player of the Match, Ashleigh Gardner: It was a good game, we want to try and stay on top of the ladder now with the opportunities that are left for us. It's always nice to keep chipping in with wickets, and today was another such day. It has been a while since I scored runs for the team but great to be contributing today with the bat, feeling good about my game, hopefully more such knocks to come, if not better.

So Ash Gardner finishes a fine spell of bowling, taking 4 wickets for 27 runs. She also had a good day with the bat. Showing why her stakes are high in the all-rounder category. With 18 wickets now, she is the highest wicket-taker in the WBBL this season.
