So both teams share a point apiece but have plenty of catching up to do as the season heats up. The weather in Victoria continues to play spoilsport and alas, we've had to witness another washout. It was shaping into a tantalizing contest and both teams needed a win to move up the ladder too but they have to settle for splitting points instead.

The Stars elected to bowl and began with two extremely tidy overs. The in-form Phoebe Litchfield soon flicked a switch and tore into Tess Flintoff before Amy Jones caught up herself. A steady opening stand ensued and it was Annabel Sutherland who cut it short with a deceptive slower delivery.

Skipper Rachael Haynes shored herself up the order but took quite a bit of time to get adjusted to the middle. Jones though, carried on efficiently at the other end and the Thunder were well-placed at the halfway mark. They didn't opt for the Power Surge though and with Jones falling prey to a screamer of a catch from Flintoff, that was only pushed back even further.

Haynes and Anika Learoyd were tasked with kicking on but the rain intervened. It absolutely poured down heavily and such was the impact that there was no further play possible.

It was something we feared given how it started bucketing down but it's official now - the match has been abandoned due to rain and both teams will share a point each!

Should the rain impact the number of overs left in or if it gets to a stage where we've seen the last of this innings, you'd have to say the Thunder have missed a big opportunity by not activating the Power Surge post the drinks break. More so, with Amy Jones well-set and batting with fine rhythm.

Boo! The heavens have opened up and it's bucketing down heavily now at the Eastern Oval. Off go the players and on come the groundstaff with the covers. This could take a while given how it's hosing down but let's hope that it's not too long before we resume.
