A big result for the Mumbai Indians but you can't take anything away from Jaiswal and his stupendous knock. He didn't really deserved to be on the losing side after playing such a knock. Deservedly he won the Player of the Match Award. With that Jaiswal interview, that brings us to the end of our coverage from the double header Sunday. Two nail-biting finishes. Sikandar Raza took three runs off the final ball to win it for Punjab in the afternoon game and it was Tim David later in the day who took MI over the finishing line. The cricketing action continues with so many matches lined up tomorrow. IPL carnival continues, we will also cover the ECS games and the PAK-NZ 3rd ODI. Keep following Sportskeeda for all the latest action but for now this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off on the behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Karthik Raj. Goodnight!
Yashasvi Jaiswal (Player of the Match): Highlight (chuckles), when I scored the century and I didn't think the ball went to the boundary so I thanked god for helping me reach the landmark. I always have the confidence, I always keep dreaming and following the process. I have to go everyday and do the hard grind. I think, mentally I prepare myself strongly. I have organised my life quite better, good food habits. I love playing the straight drive. If I get the stride out forward, it gives me confidence.
Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians captain): It's not 36th its 35th. It was very pleasing to see how we chased it down today. We have got the ability and back ourselves to chase those kinds of scores. It was really pleasing to see the chase. Its a big shoe to fill, Polly has done it for a long time but Tim has all the attributes to become a great player. He is a great guy to have. Yeah it is quite difficult it is something which we don't want to do but we have to make changes depending on the conditions. The guys have to ready for that. Look Jofra, speaking about he has had a massive injury. He didn't played much cricket for a long long time, we saw extreme pace today and that was pleasing for us. The more he plays he will get back to rhythm. The way SKY played was always around the corner. Look I watched him last year as well, this year he has taken his game to a different level. I was asking him where did the strength come from? He has taken his domestic form into the IPL. Wish he continues to play like that and it's a great thing for Indian cricket.
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony with Harsha Bhogle.
Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals captain): During the time-out, we were talking about fighting it out. David did something very special. It was kind of getting wet. But we had the experience of bowling in these conditions. The way we have been playing. Either we have won or we have come close. Results do come here and there. We will keep focusing on the process. We will keep fighting hard. I was expecting something special from Jaiswal. It was always round the corner for Jaiswal.
Tim David: We needed a result, the crowd was crazy. When you are playing at the Wankhede, there is not much better. To see how the boys went about, it was awesome. Everyone had to be targeted. It was good batting conditions out there, so tough job for the bowlers. It was a bit sweaty. I was just looking to get down the track. Any time, if a yorker was missed, you felt like you could capitalize on that!
Mumbai Indians won by 6 wickets (with 3 deliveries to spare)
Suryakumar Yadav 55(29) | Tim David 45*(14) Ravichandran Ashwin 2/27(4) | Sandeep Sharma 1/35(4)
That was a special knock from Tim David to finish it off in style. Mumbai Indians desperately needed this win and MI becomes the first team to chase down more than 200 at the Wankhede Stadium. David also won them the match against the Delhi Capitals but this win will certainly boost their confidence and give David the confidence of replicating something similar in the next few games.
Mumbai Indians needed to blaze away in the powerplay but that didn't really happen with the hosts losing their skipper Rohit Sharma early. It was a sensational knuckle ball from Sandeep Sharma which beat his outside edge and clipped onto the top of the off-stump. It was Cameron Green who took the onus on himself to find the boundaries in the powerplay and he did a commendable job.
Ishan Kishan couldn't quite get going especially with the required rate climbing steeply with each ball. He eventually fell prey to Ravichandran Ashwin but what transpired with the introduction of SKY left the Rajasthan Royals bowlers flabbergasted. He didn't take any time, smashing Ashwin for a six of his very first delivery. He continued to take a liking to the RR bowlers and slammed Kuldeep Sen for 20 in an over.
An acrobatic catch from Sandeep Sharma brought an end to the knock of SKY. The catch at short fine leg would be remembered for a long time and will surely be in the reckoning for the catch of the tournament. The set batter Tilak Verma was still out there and out came Tim David to give him company.
He batted with composure as he knew anything in his arc was going for a boundary. He kept them in the game with a flurry of boundaries and wit 17 required off the final over, it was RR who had their noses slightly ahead. However Tim David had other ideas as he slammed three consecutive sixes of the final over to take his side over the line. What a chase from the five-time champions and they remain firmly in contention of the playoffs. Four wins and four losses in 8 games so far.
19.3 Jason Holder to Tim David, HAT-TRICK OF SIXES AND IT IS ALL OVER! Full-toss outside-off, David swings it over deep mid-wicket for a maximum as the Wankhede crowd goes berserk. What a heist from MI in the 1000th IPL game! Written in the stars as they say!
19.2 Jason Holder to Tim David, BACK-TO-BACK SIXES! Full-toss again from Holder, David muscles it over deep mid-wicket for a maximum. This is ball-striking of the highest order
19.1 Jason Holder to Tim David, SIX TO START THE OVER! Full-toss outside-off, David bludgeons it straight down the ground for a maximum. 11 needed off 5 now

18.5 Sandeep Sharma to Tim David, FOUR! That was an attempted wide yorker which ends up as a full toss outside off, carved away by David over the extra cover region and bisects the field at cover perfectly.

18.3 Sandeep Sharma to Tim David, full and wide outside off, clattered down the ground towards the long-off fielder for a single.
18.3 Sandeep Sharma to Tim David, that's a wide. Banged in short by Sandeep and it goes over the head of David, wide called.
18.2 Sandeep Sharma to Tim David, SIX! That was right in the slot from Sandeep, a low full toss and David moves across the off-stump ever so slightly and deposits that well over the long-on fence.
18.1 Sandeep Sharma to Tilak Verma, full and wide outside off, squeezed away by Tilak down towards the widish long-off region for a single.
