Apeksha Makalande looked to go on the charge from the first over - he tried to take Sattar on as the medium-pacer erred in line once too often, but four balls in, Makalande sliced one towards the man at cover without timing it right, and was caught with ease. Eranga Wickramasinghe was the next to go as the Wolves bowlers kept applying the squeeze, claiming both openers in the powerplay, going for 22 in it.

A lot depended on Vimukthu Hettiarachchi and Rajeevharan Sathasivam from then on. The occasional maximum came along for the Bulls - both Sathasivam and Hettiarachchi succeeded in clearing the boundary every now and then. There were a couple of big overs in between - Sanu Maji went for 21 in the 5th and Muhammad Usman Sr went for 16 in the 7th, and so, there still was hope.

The 8th over from Sawar, though, knocked all the wind out of the Bulls' chase. Hettiarachchi, who was beginning to look really good having struck a couple of sixes, went for a third in three deliveries and holed out. Mannan did the same the next ball, and the game was up. All that the Bulls will take from this game is a bonus point - they're all but out of contention for the playoffs now.
