Thanks a lot for joining us for the first game of this edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. This is me, Mohul Bhowmick, signing off on behalf of my friend Pradeep. However, don't go anywhere as the action continues right here at Sportskeeda. Just hop tabs for the coverage of the second game of this tournament. Until next time, goodbye!
Deccan Gladiators beat New York Strikers by 22 runs!
Tom Kohler-Cadmore 68* (33) | Karunaratne 3-25 Muhammad Waseem 26 (13) | Zahoor Khan 2-12
The bowlers of the Deccan Gladiators were on top of their game throughout this innings and ensured that the batters of New York Strikers did not get any room to work with at all.
The Gladiators will be extremely pleased with themselves for having won the first game of this tournament whereas the Strikers will feel that they missed out on achieving anything substantial in this game.
Zahoor Khan, Trent Boult, Mohammad Zahid and Luke Wood did extremely well for the Gladiators and ensured that the win was etched in their name. The Strikers, for their part, will have to re-assess their batting strategy.
They have quite a few top batters in their lineup and it was expected of them to make a good chase out of this one. However, that is not how things turned out to be, and the Gladiators won this game quite comfortably in the end.
And that will be that!

9.6 Mohammad Zahid to Chamika Karunaratne, THAT IS THAT! Deccan Gladiators open their account as they have been clinical tonight, the title defense has begun well for them. Length delivery on the stumps, Karunaratne whacked it down to long-on for a single.
9.5 Mohammad Zahid to Sunil Narine, bangs in the short delivery, Narine hangs back to pull, but doesn't get hold of it and falls safely at deep mid-wicket for one.
9.4 Mohammad Zahid to Sunil Narine, back of a length on the fifth stump, Narine has a big swing and a miss.
9.3 Mohammad Zahid to Sunil Narine, FOUR! Slower one, back of a length on the middle and leg. Narine flicked it one handed to deep backward square-leg, fielder's despairing dive goes in vain and it's a boundary for Narine.
9.2 Mohammad Zahid to Sunil Narine, back of a length, angled it across left-hander on the sixth stump. Narine hangs back to slash and misses.
A bit of good fortune for Narine, but he will take it!
9.1 Mohammad Zahid to Sunil Narine, FOUR! Fortuitous boundary for Narine, won't mind one bit there. Back of a length on the leg-stump, Narine swings across, but takes the inside edge down to fine-leg and finds the ropes.
Mohammad Zahid [1-0-11-1] will bowl the final over.
Zahoor gave away just three runs in this over! He will be extremely proud of his efforts. The Gladiators are all set to win this game by a comfortable margin here.

8.6 Zahoor Khan to Sunil Narine, nails the yorker, just outside the off-stump. Narine digs it out and squirts it to short third-man for a single to finish the over.
8.5 Zahoor Khan to Chamika Karunaratne, slower bumper on the off-stump, Karunaratne waits and pulled it all along the turf to deep square-leg for one.
8.4 Zahoor Khan to Chamika Karunaratne, APPEAL FOR LBW, TURNED DOWN! Was there an inside edge? Back of a length on the stumps, Karunaratne swings across the line, pings on the pad.
Chamika Karunaratne, RHB, is the new batter.
Two wickets fall off consecutive deliveries! The Strikers are struggling big time here.
8.3 Zahoor Khan to Kieron Pollard, OUT! PICKED OUT DEEP SQUARE-LEG! What a night Zahoor is having, picks up another and celebrates. Slower one, short into the batter, Pollard too early into the pull shot and miscued it straight to the fielder who makes no mistake.
Kieron Pollard c Fabian Allen b Zahoor Khan 8 (7b 1x4 0x6)
Sunil Narine, LHB, is at the non-striker's end.
That was a close call, but Ali has been run out by just a bit of a distance!
