That brings us to an end of our coverage of the first of two Abu Dhabi T10 games of the day. The Delhi Bulls have been humbled and toppled - the New York Strikers take their place at the top of the table! Click here to follow our coverage of the second game - starting in just under half an hour! This is Rajarshi, signing off for now. See you tomorrow!
There's no bigger leveller in life than sports, and the Delhi Bulls found that out the hard way. They were cruising along after their first three games, their Net Run Rate reaching absurd heights. But the events that transpired over the course of the last hour or so have brought then right down, and among the rest of the competition. The New York Strikers have just bowled them out for a mere 31 - could have been worse with the sequence of events at one stage.
The Bulls top-order really didn't help themselves with their shot selection early on, and that proved to be fatal. Akeal Hosein bent the ball back in to the right-handers, and claimed Johnson Charles, James Vince and Usman Khan in his two overs - laying the groundwork for the rest of the destruction. Quinton de Kock tried his best to stitch a partnership, but once he fell to a skiddy length delivery from Karunaratne, the alarm bells began to ring for the Bulls.
A procession followed as Karunaratne ripped right into the Bulls' tail with three wickets in his first over. Narine had the batters in a tangle with his in-swingers as well, and got in among the wickets eventually. It was then a matter of whether the Strikers could restrict the Bulls to under 46 - the previous lowest total in the Abu Dhabi T10 - they did!
9.3 Odean Smith to Ravi Bopara, skied...AND OUT! The Delhi Bulls have been bundled out for 31 - yes, you read that right - 31! This is now the lowest score in the history of Abu Dhabi T10! Short of a length outside off, Bopara looked to flat-bat this one down the ground, the ball took the splice of the bat, flew up towards point, and Karunaratne made no mistake! The Bulls have been humbled by a margin of 67 runs!
Ravi Bopara c Chamika Karunaratne b Odean Smith 16 (16b, 2x4, 0x6)
9.2 Odean Smith to Ravi Bopara, full, swinging back in, Bopara has a swing at it, misses out
9.1 Odean Smith to Ravi Bopara, FOUR! Smith tries the yorker, but Bopara just about gets some bat on it. The ball beats third man and races to the ropes
Odean Smith, right-arm fast-medium, comes into the attack
Final over, then. The Delhi Bulls are all set to register the lowest score in the Abu Dhabi T10 from the looks of it...
