A short-lived game of exciting and entertaining cricket- or rather only one fourth of the full duration, brings to an end of the second T20I between New Zeland and Bangladesh, in which, well the rain Gods seem to have been deemed winners!!

Tim Seifert and Rishad Hossain showed glimpses of what could have shaped the narrative of an engrossing game of cricket, but nevertheless, few things even the umpires can't handle, intervened today...

21:30 local time | 14:00 IST: The rain is slowed down a bit and the umpires have walked back to the pitch for perhaps an unofficial inspection. There's still a small chance we'll get some more action today. There are pools of water on the covers and seagulls are enjoying them. Some officials are out in the middle without umbrellas. But the wait continues for now.

New Zealand and Bangladeshi players are clicking a few photos with the fans. Rachin Ravindra is doing a bit of shadow batting in the dressing room. The rain is still very. very heavy.

Luke Ronchi (New Zealand batting coach): Good to be back. We wanted to put pressure on the Bangladeshi bowlers the last game but unfortunately it didn't work out. We have to do the little things right while avoiding to go too hard and give opportunity to the bowlers. Coaching across formats changes because we have different guys coming in different formats. It's more about the mental shift. (On players' mental health) That's why guys are rested and it's important for that to mentally refresh. It's still important for them to look out for their physical aspects when they are away. But most of it is set in stone. We are a process driven team. It's easier to go from Test to T20s than the other way around. It's more about hitting harder and going further through with the shots. Tests are more surface dependent. (Fan of Bazball?) I am a fan of cricket and it brings guys in. Baz had a massive impact on our cricket and he's doing that in England. You have to be authentic in how you play. (Anyone in the group, who doesn't listen to you?) No, they are all really good (laughs).

20:50 local time | 13:20 IST: Nothing new to report unfortunately. The rain is still on and live pictures show the crowd at the ground leaving in big groups with their umbrellas. The rain has gotten heavier in fact.

20:25 local time | 12:55 IST - The rain is still on and the groundsmen, like all of us, are waiting too. The cut off time for a 5-over game is 22:28 local time!

Nic Pothas (Bangladesh assistant coach): We are missing some of the top pacers in the country but this crop has done well. Unfortunately, he (Taskin Ahmed) had a crucial ligament operation. His rehab is going well but he still has a long way to go. It's about bringing some young kids. They want to learn and open to change. It's much harder to change an old dog. And you have to respect the experience. The youngsters are open, driven and ready to change. New Zealand have had a very good powerplay and we have come back well. Mitch is trying to get out but we aren't helping him (laughs). They are a high quality side, won't come out without any improvement after the first match.

The rain has gotten lighter but more covers are coming on.

The rain was teasing the match throughout and now the umpires think it's finally heavy enough to stop the game. The players are off and members of the crowd have their umbrellas on. The covers have been put on but it's just the pitch for now, not the outfield. It's not VERY heavy but it's quite gloomy out there.

The drainage system here is top-class and once the rain stops it won't take too much time to get going. Let's hope for the best.

Rishad is bowling at a wonderful pace, and with the wicket being a tad wetter, from that pace and height of release, the ball will definitely skid off the surface and the batters will only have to try and time the ball through the gap, instead of trying to over-muscle the ball. The outfield fielders should beware and cautious, as the ball will start slipping off their palms and will be a little slippery to grip. Only 15 runs off the last 4 overs and it has been a magnificent and economical spell of bowling from the Bangladesh bowling department!

Some poor fielding out there in the outfield from the Ban fielders, however they've been extremely sharp all through the game. There has been a restriction on the run flow and the Fizz has been bowling beautifully to add to it. Mitchell really hasn't middled it and Fizz, being the the uncanny seamer every team would die to have, just casually rolls his fingers over the ball time and again, making it even harder to hit. Wonder if they would revert back to another over of Mahedi any time soon
