MATCH SUMMARY

New Zealand beat The Netherlands by 118 runs and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series.

Player of the Match: Tom Latham - 140* (123) (10x4, 5x6) and a stumping

This match will be remembered for Tom Latham's superlative knock of more than a-run-a-ball and the kind of support he got from the lower order in getting to his unbeaten 100. Had this innings not been played, the match could have finished well in favour of the Netherlands.

But the 2nd innings, even though it got off to a poor start for the Dutch losing two early wickets, gave them good momentum with a nice 50-run partnership between Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede. But unfortunately for them, Vikramjit Singh got out to a juicy full toss and opened the gates for New Zealand to keep making inroads.

Ish Sodhi, Blair Tickner, Kyle Jamieson and Michael Bracewell were among the wickets after Colin de Grandhomme broke the 50-run stand. Dough Bracewell on his return, chipped in with a wicket as well.

Michael Bracewell and Ish Sodhi got the ball to turn a long way and made the Netherlands batters look foolish at times. Bracewell bowled two magic off-spinning deliveries to get two right-handed batters out, one bowled, another stumped.

Perhaps the fields could have been a bit more attacking and the catching a bit better, but on the whole, it was a good bowling performance from New Zealand to back up their skipper's effort.

We now head into the last international match of Ross Taylor's stellar career at this very venue, to see if Pieter Seelaar's Netherlands can spring in a surprise.

The Netherlands captain, Pieter Seelaar: I suppose that we really could have got the job done with New Zealand 5 down for not too many but we could not quite get it done. Tom Latham held their innings together really well but still, we gave away 30-40 runs too many in the end. With the bat, we lost the first two wickets a bit too quickly, then the partnership built but then again, out wheels came off. Yes we did improve from the previous game but we were not able to restrict Tom the way would have liked. We need to capitalize on opportunities in the next game and make the most of them.

Tom Latham (New Zealand Captain and Player of the Match): It's obviously nice to cap it off with a win like that. From my point of view, coming in, we were in a bit of trouble. It was good to see through it and put up a good total. When I first came in it allowed me to just bat in and I didn't need to do anything much. Nice to get a couple of good partnerships with Mitch and Doug and that was the mentality as to how to get to 250. The way Doug came out and stroked the ball, he was pretty clear on a different wicket that we weren't used to. The way we came back to post 260 odd and then the way we bowled was excellent. What we've talked about before is getting to that time at the back end and I think sometimes you tend to go a little bit early. I think I managed to pace the innings well today and had some fun towards the end. Being in a little bit of trouble, the way we managed to pull it back and put a score (was good). Even with the ball...their batters put us under a bit of pressure in the first 10 overs but we came back really well. The spinners bowled really well - Ish in the first 20 overs and then Michael towards the end. This is a surface that won't get any easier so we have to adapt and find a method to play with both bat and ball. You always look for a complete performance when you play a game of cricket. It obviously wasn't there with the bat today but hopefully we can string it all together and come out with a good performance on Monday.

34.1 Ish Sodhi to Brandon Glover, OUT! WAS THAT OFF THE EDGE? INDEED! IT'S ALL OVER! Dropped short around off, turns square as Glover hangs back before looking to bail out of his shot. He hangs his bat aerially though and the extra bounce catches the edge and lobs into the safe pockets of Ross Taylor to bring the curtains down on this contest. The Dutch have been annihilated and blown away by the Kiwis! New Zealand beat Netherlands by 118 runs and clinch the series 2-0 with a game to spare!

Ticker runs to his right from mid-off and throws himself into it but the ball just about evades him to delay the inevitable. Incredible effort that from the tall fast-bowler!
