Commentary

That's it from the Final match of this tri-series. There are a lot of games being covered today, stay tuned at Sportskeeda. This is the commentary duo of Sooryanarayanan and Divyansh, signing off!

Babar Azam (Pakistani Captain): Yea definitely, the way the team played especially the batters. Our bowlers did well in the death overs and then the batters did what they had to do to win the game, in the start and then the finish from them. The wicket was similar in both the innings and it was good to bat on. Yes we are happy with the win and confident going to the World Cup.

Kane Williamson (New Zealand Captain): Yea, they are a strong side and credit to them. It was frustrating not to get over the line. You always want 20 more, but i think it was a competitive, and credit to the Pakistani middle over for the finish they had. No one is to blame in particular, every bowler bowled to their plans and any 6-10 balls can change the game.

Michael Bracewell is the Player of the Series for his stellar bowling display. Hear from the man himself: Honor to win this award but disappointed to not take home the winner's cup today. It's something that I've practiced a lot now, particularly in the nets. I've had the chance to bowl in the Powerplay and it's something that I'm getting more comfortable with. A pretty daunting task bowling to Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam but it's something that I'm enjoying. It's a different role to what I play domestically and that's where I'm probably disappointed when I went out to hit a few boundaries in the last couple of overs. Pakistan's bowlers bowled brilliantly and I think that's where we lost the game today - the last two overs in both innings. But a lot of positives to take out. I feel very fortunate for the opportunities I've got. Just trying to learn as much as I can. Being able to play in different conditions all around the world is a privilege. I think I have a lot more skills now than I had say eight months ago.

Mohammad Nawaz is the Player of the Match for his all-round display. Here's what he has to say: I just backed myself when I went inside yesterday and today. I had belief in me and I was just backing myself to go with a clear mind. Batting in the middle-order in domestic cricket helped me a lot. It's just about executing the plan that the team gave me. Very happy to fulfill the expectations the team had of me. The way Haider Ali played, he gave us the momentum. When Ish Sodhi came from the other end I was thinking that I should go since the wind was blowing the other way. I had to go for it in the last two deliveries and that worked for us. We've been playing in Sri Lanka and then in Pakistan - it was quite hot there. Coming here it was quite cold but we had a good time here.

An all-round performance from Pakistan, did well with the ball and finished well with the bat. New Zealand will be disappointed with their last 5-6 overs in both the innings. They will feel like they fell short about 10 runs in the first innings.

The match was theirs for the taking till the 14th over, as Pakistan needed 67 from 6 overs and their win looked unlikely from there. But then came in the last over of Ish Sodhi which went for 25, Nawaz and Haider turned the game on it's head in just one over.

They had a slow start and reached their hundred in the 15th over, Rizwan and Babar Azam started off well, until Bracewell came in the attack and stopped the runs and took a wicket. After Pakistan lost their captain, it was slow paced innings after that. They lost two wickets in quick succession which brought Nawaz and Haider to the strike, who then blasted their way to 30 runs each and brought Pakistan closer to victory. Nawaz stayed on till the end and made sure they got over the line.

The bowlers will be disappointed except Bracewell who bowled brilliantly and gave away just 14 runs. They were doing well in the middle overs and they just had to bowl 5 more good overs, but the Ish Sodhi over changed the game, Sodhi finished off with the figures of 1/58. Others was also expensive as they failed to restrict the duo of Haider and Nawaz.

Takes pace off on a length on middle stump as it angles in, Iftikhar gets inside the line of it and picks it up with a flick up and over deep square leg. The fielder is stationed a couple of yards inside the ropes before he moves back and leaps with an outstretched palm but the ball clears him into the advertising hoardings. What a contest we've witnessed at the Hagley Oval and in the end, Pakistan win this tri-series with a 5-wicket win!
