Match Summary:
New Zealand win by 6 wickets
New Zealand: 159/4 (32.5) Will Young 86* (113) | Matt Henry 3/14 (10.0) Pathum Nissanka 57 (64) | Lahiru Kumara 2/39 (7.4)
An unbeaten 100 run partnership from Will Young and Henry Nicholls to chase down the low total set up by Sri Lanka. And they take the series 2-0. This is the first time New Zealand has had an unbeaten 100 run partnership in ODIs.
Sri Lanka got a magical start with Lahiru Kumara taking 2 wickets in the second over off the innings, and then Rajitha got Mitchell's wicket in the 7th over.
But after that it was a Will Young show. He and Latham got a small partnership of 38 runs in, to get past the opening onslaught of Kumara and Rajitha but then Latham got out with an inside edge and chopped it on.
Nicholls joined Young at 59/4, and then they played a proper ODI innings to maneuver the ball around in the middle overs, pick up singles and doubles to get the partnership going with a boundary here and there.
None of the bowlers got a wicket after that, just a few scares from Shanaka, Kumara and Rajitha. Hasaranga has no luck again as he still waits for his first wicket this year. Kumara had to go off as he stepped on the ball while appealing and twisted his ankle. The damage had been done already and there was nothing he could have done.
The Kiwis bowler's set the victory perfectly and then Young and Nicholls did the job.
32.5 Chamika Karunaratne to Henry Nicholls, THAT'S THAT! NEW ZEALAND WIN! Short delivery, Nicholls swivels and pulls it behind square for a boundary. So, the Kiwis win the match by six wickets and also the series by a 2-0 margin!
32.4 Chamika Karunaratne to Will Young, length delivery on the stumps, Young clips it to fine-leg for a single
32.3 Chamika Karunaratne to Will Young, back of a length and wide of off, Young flirts with it before withdrawing the bat
32.2 Chamika Karunaratne to Will Young, short delivery angling in, Young sways away from it
32.1 Chamika Karunaratne to Will Young, full on the stumps, Young tucks it to the leg-side. No run
It looked like Nicholls will finish the chase in this over after getting a boundary with an aggressive shot, but Shanaka did well to end the over. Just 4 runs required to win.
