Commentary

The rain hasn't subsided and the inevitable is suppose to happen and it did. The umpires have decided to call off, and this is the first match in this super smash tournament that the rain has played spoilsport. Hopefully, we will get a full game in Wellington tomorrow as the hosts team will be up against Central Districts at 6:10 AM IST. Update 9 am IST, 4:25 am Local: It's still raining and we have already started to lose overs. The Women's game is scheduled to start right after this game, so if the game doesn't start before 10 am IST, then the umpires would call it off

Update: The predicted afternoon showers have hit Hamilton just in time of the start, so the covers are brought up in the middle. Hope it eases off and we will resume action soon

Hello and welcome to the LIVE coverage of the Super smash T20 match between Northern Knights and Otago Volts at the Seddon Park in Hamilton

With just a solitary win in four outings, the Volts are desperate for the win to revive their campaign, which isn't going smoothly for them, while the Knights too are blowing hot and cold so far. But back-to-back wins against Otago and Wellington could give them huge confidence ahead of this encounter

Still, we are early in the tournament but since momentum is key in this format, Volts will be eager to get a W under their belt. But it won't be easy as the Kings have some experienced international players in the name of Tim Seifert and Mitch Santner. They have already bossed the show with the ball against the Volts at Queenstown and restricted them to a below-par total, so it remains to be seen how Rutherford & co are going to counter the spinners.

Rain gods might play spoilsport in Hamilton as the afternoon showers are precited, so it won't be a big surprise if we don't get to witness a full game. The conditons looks overcast but there is no rain at the moment and hope it stays like this throughout.
