The foundation laid by the Pakhtoon Zalmi openers set the tone for the run-chase very early. It was clean-hitting, and of the highest order at that. It was Izhar Hussain who was the more severe of the two openers this time, swinging himself off his feet and clearing the ropes on the leg side with utmost ease. The Winterthur bowlers did pick up the wickets of both openers eventually, but the game was gone by then.

The signs were quite evident early on, when Sangar was dropped off the first ball itself. Sangar then went on to make merry, he smashed Karannagodage for 16 in 3 deliveries of the second over. Izhar Hussain then took a cue from that, and dug into Grant Cupido's medium pace. The banks across the leg side greeted the ball on several occasions after that, as the opening duo raised a 50-run stand in no time.

A clever change of pace from Sasidharan earned him a wicket, Sangar, looking to go over the off-side, holed out to deep backward point. Hussain followed him in the next over itself, however, the target was close to single figures by then. Asad Saeed and Abdullah Hamdard barely broke a sweat in getting the Zalmi home and dry eventually.
