Not the best performance by Pakistan but they've still managed to get past the finish line. In essence, it tells you how lethal they can be on days where all their components click together. They would be hoping tomorrow's one such day as they return to this very venue to take on New Zealand in the final. As for Bangladesh, they've taken a lot of strides, especially on the batting front but will need to keep working on their fielding and across departments in general, if they are to make a mark at the T20 World Cup. They will now cross the Trans-Tasman sea and head over to Australia for their warmup games.

Babar Azam (Pakistan captain): The team is playing well and a win always gives you confidence. (Nawaz) We have a lot in the bowling but everyone has to contribute. We started well but didn't finish too well. (Batting) With me and Rizwan starting off well at the top and Nawaz finishing it off was pleasing to see. We are waiting for this performance from our middle order to perform and step up to help us win the game. They have helped us a lot and me personally as well. (Fielding) We are improving. (Final) We are looking forward to the match against the hosts and hoping to carry on our good form.

Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh Captain): It's been difficult but we played our best cricket today. We could have scored a few more runs - we scored just 3 runs in the last over. We expect our batters to score 12-15 runs there but it happens. I don't want to point out the negative things - we've been playing positive cricket which we've been lacking (until now). Now it's upto us to express ourselves in the World Cup and do something special for the country. The position we were in, I thought we could have scored a few more runs but at the start of the innings I would have taken 175 (173). But in T20 cricket when the batters are set they're hard to stop. From the management point of view we are very clear on the team which will play in the World Cup. (On his form) That's my job to score runs for the team. On the other side, the three games I played, my bowling hasn't been up to the mark. That's one area to look into. The way we played, if you look at the first game and the last game, there are a lot of improvements happening and we want to continue improving ahead of the first game of the World Cup.

Mohammad Rizwan is the Player of the Match. Here is what he has to say: If you see how the Bangladesh bowlers bowled, it was not easy. Chasing a target is always difficult and you must always keep wickets in hand. If you ask me, I will give credit to Nawaz for the way he batted. Basically, it's the team. The Bangladesh bowlers bowled really well but the momentum shifted with Nawaz. It was difficult (in the middle) but if some players come in like Nawaz did and go from ball one, it makes it easier for you with the wickets in hand. Babar and I always assess the conditions in the first ten overs before and look to keep wickets in hand. A win always gives you confidence and hopefully we can carry this performance into the final against the hosts.

The summary will not reflect Mohammad Nawaz's name but his 20-ball unbeaten 45 was the game-changer for Pakistan. This was after a solid batting display by Bangladesh saw them post a competitive 173 although they did leave about 10 runs out there.

They always needed that extra cushion as well when you consider their fielding issues and the fact that they played one spinner less on a track that wasn't a belter. It sure wasn't as difficult as Mohammad Rizwan made it seem though, with the opener struggling to get any sort of momentum into his innings. He did bat through alright, but at no point did it seem like he was in control of things. He did run as hard as he always does between the wickets, even as skipper Babar Azam looked in fine touch at the other end after a slow start of his own.

Yet another 100-run stand between the openers was bound to put the result beyond doubt but Hasan Mahmud's double-whammy broke the game open as Babar and Haider Ali were prized out across three deliveries. Nawaz was shored up and he took down Shakib Al Hasan in a favorable match-up, infusing excellent momentum into the innings.

That over, in essence, all but killed the contest with Bangladesh not helping their cause with another sloppy fielding effort, while their bowling too, left a lot to be desired in terms of consistency. Rizwan notched up a half-century and while he couldn't see his team through, Nawaz held his nerve and did it easy in the final over with a string of braces to see his side past the finish line.
