That brings us to the end of our coverage of New Zealand's second tour to Pakistan this year. It's a new week, and needless to say, we have plenty of cricket lined up! Keep an eye on our tabs for coverage of cricket matches from all around the world! This is Rajarshi, signing off on behalf of Raghav, Pragadeesh and Soumarya. Good night!
Tom Latham, New Zealand captain: We put up a great performance on the board today. Our top order played really well, and we got a score that was just about par. For us to then come out and take some wickets upfront in the powerplay, something that we haven't done so much throughout the series and for the bowlers to set us up in the first 15-20 overs was outstanding. Certainly pleasing to put up a complete performance in the last game. He (Shipley) bowled fantastically, he was able to find the right lengths on this wicket and was consistent through his spell. When you chase a score of 300, it's important that the batsmen take risks and hit good balls. For us, it's about trying to improve game-to-game, and get guys experience in these conditions and to different roles. On a whole, the guys have done that, and we have seen some great performances as well. Obviously, it wasn't an ideal result from the team's point of view, but for us to improve from game-to-game, and the experience for the guys has been great.
Babar Azam, Pakistan captain: We couldn't finish the game the way we planned. Overall, it was an outstanding series for us. We collapsed early on today, we needed a partnership but couldn't build one. There was some hope when Salman Ali Agha and Iftikhar were putting up a partnership. We lost wickets from one side, and there was no one to partner Iftikhar. It was a bit surprising for us that the conditions weren't as helpful for chasing this time. But as a professional, you have to be prepared, the conditions can be variable on all occasions. We should have played better cricket in this game. Credit to the New Zealand bowlers, though, they bowled really well. Overall, the series was really good for us, there were some good individual performances. There were a lot of positives from this series, we were able to test our bench strength, we played with different combinations in different matches. Our middle order, which was lacking in some aspects, have shown signs of improvement. The fact that we could chase and defend scores of 300 will be of encouragement to us.
Fakhar Zaman (Player of the Series): Wanted to score in Karachi as well but things always do not go your way in cricket. I am happy that we won the series and that I could contribute to it. As a team, we found what we were looking for with batting combinations. I will try to go through my mistakes from Karachi ODIs and look to work on them.
Henry Shipley has been awarded the Player of the Match. He is not here to collect it and Latham will collect the prize on his behalf.
Match summary:
New Zealand win by 47 runs
Will Young 87(91) | Henry Shipley 3/34 (9) Iftikhar Ahmed 94*(72) | Shaheen Shah Afridi 3/46 (10)
Iftikhar walks off to a standing ovation, joining the handshakes between the two teams. It was a really brave effort from him, most would have thrown in the towel by the time Pakistan were down to their tail, but not him! Iftikhar targeted which bowlers to go after, which deliveries to attack, but in the end, the equation proved to be out of his reach, not due to his fault, of course.
The start to the chase was really slow from the hosts, which was mainly down to some really disciplined bowling from the New Zealand pacers. Adam Milne and Matt Henry bowled with a lot of pace, hit the right areas and troubled the two Pakistan left-handed openers. Shan Masood was struggling more between the two of them, which came to an end when he dragged one on off Matt Henry. Babar Azam departed cheaply soon after, and Pakistan were on the back foot.
Mohammad Rizwan's stay in the middle was frantic. The Pakistan keeper wasn't judging singles well, was a run out candidate all along, but his dismissal came down to a lack of feet movement to a delivery that kept low. Fakhar was itching to up the ante having grinded out the first 10 overs, and that proved to be his undoing. He charged at Rachin Ravindra to try and have a hack across the line, the ball took the top edge, and Blundell, who had a tough day behind the stumps, managed to pouch it safely.
Agha Salman and Iftikhar Ahmed came together and helped Pakistan get out of the woods. The duo started off really slowly, taking their time to play themselves in, before launching into both the spinners and pacers. Both of them picked the right deliveries to attack, and soon after, Pakistan were back on track. It was Henry Shipley who provided the Blackcaps with the breakthrough eventually, bringing a stand of 97 to a close. Shadab Khan came in and tried to play his natural game, he was starting to get going, but holed out soon after.
Iftikhar kept going even as the wickets tumbled. As long as he was out there, there was hope for the visitors. Iftikhar was striking the ball immaculately, finding and clearing the ropes at will. Haris looked to support him with the bat, but in the quest to keep Iftikhar on strike, he perished, which handed New Zealand their first and only ODI win in this tour. The presentations are coming up shortly, stay tuned!
Sombre faces all around the ground. It was not to be for Iftikhar. A second 5-match ODI series whitewash over New Zealand is not to be for Pakistan. Iftikhar removes his helmet slowly, the way a warrior would having lost a war.
46.1 Matt Henry to Iftikhar Ahmed, RUNOUT! 1 run completed. New Zealand win by 47 runs and avoid a whitewash. It was a full and wide delivery, pressed to deep extra cover. The batters run the first one hard and had to get back for the second. Rauf puts in a dive but Henry was too quick to get his hand on the throw that eventually deflected on the stumps.
Haris Rauf run out (Cole McConchie/Matt Henry) 1 (9b, 0x4, 0x6)
Matt Henry (8-1-46-1) is back into the attack
Applause from all around the ground as Haris successfully keeps out Ravindra! Iftikhar is playing an absolute gem here, and the crowd at the National stadium want to see his side being rewarded for that!

45.6 Rachin Ravindra to Haris Rauf, tossed up on off, Rauf strides forward and blocks it back to the bowler
45.5 Rachin Ravindra to Haris Rauf, length ball on off, defended forward
45.4 Rachin Ravindra to Iftikhar Ahmed, tossed up on off, knocks it off to long on for a single, Rauf to block out two deliveries
45.3 Rachin Ravindra to Iftikhar Ahmed, length ball around off, Iftikhar taps it on the leg side, the bowler had to chase the ball and Iftikhar had enough time to return for the second. Excellent batting.
45.2 Rachin Ravindra to Iftikhar Ahmed, FOUR MORE! Short of a length and well outside off, Iftikhar exploits the width, cuts it hard and gets it through the point region to add four more to his tally.
45.1 Rachin Ravindra to Iftikhar Ahmed, FOUR! Slides it down the leg side, Iftikhar just gives himself some room and helps it on its way to the fine leg fence for a boundary!
Rachin Ravindra (9-0-54-3) is back into the attack
New Zealand could have wrapped the game up with 5 overs to spare. It was a tough chance for Latham, who had to sprint from the circle. A brave effort from him, but Iftikhar, who is into his element now, will get to carry on!
