Commentary

Alright! Babar Azam becomes the only batsman in history to score three consecutive ODI tons on two occasions. Pakistan were better than the visitors in crucial moments of this contest and collect 10 super league points. As Pooran said, West Indies have to be proud of their effort as they put up a fighting total on the board and went neck and neck against the hosts until the 46th over.

International Cricket in Multan is back with a bang and the entertainment won't stop from here as these two teams will battle it out once again in two days time at the same venue.

Babar Azam: The wicket was a bit of two-paced and it's not easy to bat early on. There was a heat factor too but that's not an excuse. Glad that we got the job done in the end. Shadab came back and had a good game. He sets beautiful standards on the field. We played with a lot of courage and we have to continue this. Credit to Khushdil for finishing the innings superbly.

Khushdil Shah: I tried to take the game as deep as possible. I believe in my hitting as I have been working on for the last two years. The coaching camp has really helped my batting in a big way.

What a match we just witnessed. We were treated to another Babar Azam masterclass as the Pakistan skipper brought up his 17th ODI century before Khushdil Shah's late carnage helped the hosts to seal an emphatic win, much to the delight of the Multan crowd. West Indies seamers bowled terrifically inside the powerplay and didn't allow Pakistan to get off to a good start.

Jayden Seales got the better of Fakhar Zaman, and then, Imam ul Haq and Babar Azam were very watchful and made sure there weren't any further slip-ups early on. Imam struggled to get going at the start, but once the spinners came in, he rotated the strike with ease, while Babar Azam too had a slow start to his innings before getting into a nice groove.

Both brought up their half-centuries and were looking so good at the crease before Akeal Hosein gave West Indies the breakthrough by dismissing Imam-ul-Haq. Soon after, Rizwan joined hands with Babar and the duo added another 100-run partnership in the middle to keep Pakistan in firm control of the chase. The run machine Babar Azam brought up his 17th ODI ton but Alzarri Joseph ends his magnificent knock in the 42nd over.

Things became very interesting after Rizwan's wicket but Khushdil Shah charged Romario Shepherd for three consecutive sixes to ease all the tension that was building in the stadium. Alzarri Joseph was the real threat for Pakistan at the back end as he got rid of Shadab with a beautiful slower delivery and conceded just three runs. With 21 needed in the final two overs, Pooran threw the ball to Shepherd again and Khushdil smashed him for 15 runs before Nawaz slammed Seales over long-on to hit the winning runs.

Nicholas Pooran (WI captain): It sucks to be on the losing side, but the batters had some really good performances batting throughout the 50 overs. Babar, Imam and Khushdil batted really and credit to them but really proud of our guys. We tried to get some swing up front but we didn't get much after assessing the conditions. We bowled well in the middle overs and brought it to 42 runs in 4 overs, but tough luck. We are a young bowling unit and will be looking to bowl well in the matches to come. Shai Hope and Shamarh Brooks batted really well in these tough conditions and did well to score in excess of 300 runs

Babar Azam erupts in joy and the crowd is up on their feet. We could see the hugs and handshakes from the Pakistan dressing room. West Indies fought hard throughout the match and came close but Khushdil Shah's late cameo helped Pakistan to go 1-0 up in the series.
