It proved to be a relatively straightforward run chase in the end for the Pelicans as they romp home by 10 wickets in the final over. They started off cautiously in the first few deliveries but once they began after a brief 7-minute rain interruption, it was all about the Pelicans openers as they made light work of the target in the end.

Shian Brathwaite and Odain McCatty didn’t really allow the Guardians’ bowlers to get a sniff into the match. They were sensible to begin with and then totally took the game away from them by smashing Ryshon Williams for 19 runs in the 5th over. With just 21 runs required of the last 3 deliveries, it was always going to be a walk in the park for the Pelicans.

Some tight overs followed from Jamali Lynch and Pius Emilien but the Pelicans eventually won it in the final over with the match-winning six coming from the blade of Odain McCatty. McCatty remained unbeaten on 47 off just 25 deliveries while Brathwaite gave him good support with an unbeaten 25 off 21.

It was the Pelicans who won the toss and put the Guardians in. It was a struggle for the Guardians early on with both openers failing to get the boundaries on a consistent basis. Shaqkere Parris managed to get a few boundaries away but Kyle Corbin struggled big time. He was eventually dismissed by Tremaine Dowrich after scoring a 11-ball 10.

Shaqkere Parris struck 5 fours during his knock of 33 off 24 deliveries but just when he needed to press on the accelerator, he had to take the long walk back to the pavilion in an attempt to up the ante.

Alcindo Holder also struggled to get going but Ryshon Williams managed to provide some impetus with a couple of back-to-back sixes but was dismissed in the same over. Eventually, the Pelicans could only post a below-par score of 90 in their allotted 10 overs.
