Another day, another Mitchell Marsh masterclass, another Scorchers victory. Yet another familiar script unfolded at the Marvel Stadium with the Scorchers consolidating their top spot while the Renegades have been consigned to yet another defeat as the familiar wooden spoon doesn't seem to be getting away from them any soon.

Josh Inglis and Cameron Bancroft set about their work in a positive manner and with early wickets not coming the way of the Renegades, another long night seemed to beckon. Inglis brought out some incredible strokes off his bottom hand and wielded the willow to great effect before he was stumped by a quicker one from Zahir Khan. Bancroft got off to a brisk start himself before he too perished soon after, and the onus once again fell on Mitchell Marsh to do the needful in the middle overs.

Marsh can just do no wrong at this juncture of his career though, and he went about calculating the run chase in a clinical manner. That said, when there was something to be put away, he didn't shy away and despite Colin Munro looking rusty at the other end, Marsh had the chase under control with the Scorchers securing the Bash Boost point as well.

The Renegades never got the breakthrough they were after and clearly, they were short by a considerable margin of runs to play with. Marsh went about his job easy before the Power Surge saw Munro switch gears and surge well past his partner to notch up a half-century. Fittingly, the duo brought up a 100-run stand to cap off another resounding victory for the Scorchers who now have 21 points against their name. And there are still 8 games to go for them, mind you!

The Melbourne Renegades have to pick themselves up quickly hereon. They can take inspiration from their opponents who were languishing at the bottom of the table at a similar juncture last season before soaring their way up into the summit clash. Unless a lot of things click together soon though, the Renegades might continue to stare down the abyss again!

Mitchell Marsh (Player of the Match): It's been very nice to be a part of. The way we executed with the ball was outstanding. Probably got away from us towards the end but that happens in T20 cricket. Really good partnership to get us over the line. (On his recent run of good form) It's been good - it's not something you think about when you're playing. Just been very disciplined, I'm enjoying my life but have been disciplined with my routine. I love playing for the Scorchers and it's great to be back. (Is this the fittest he has felt?) Touchwood I am feeling good at the moment. Back in the West Indies I was able to get a bowl for Australia and execute well. I haven't got to bowl much in T20s over the years due to injuries and being a part of a fantastic bowling unit at the Scorchers. But it's great to get a bit of a bowl in recent times.

As clinical as it can get from the Perth Scorchers and they've made it six out of six! They continue to look head and shoulders ahead of the rest of the pack in the competition and it's going to take some stopping them. Perth Scorchers beat Melbourne Renegades by 8 wickets!

Slower delivery on a full length that lands well outside off, Marsh sits on one knee and lofts it unconvincingly over mid-off but he picks the vacant spaces in the deep where the ball drops. Brings up the 100-run stand between Marsh and Munro as well as the Perth Scorchers win by 8 wickets with 19 deliveries to spare!

16.4 Jack Prestwidge to Mitchell Marsh, BRILLIANT STOP! Back of a length with width on offer, Marsh throws all might into it and crashes it in front of cover point who puts in a superlative dive to his left. That would have stung but what an effort despite the result being a foregone conclusion!
