Commentary

The Perth Scorchers win it by 47 runs here at Geelong. And with that, they now lead the points table.
.

A mountain too steep for the Stars at the end. It can be argued that this was not the most well planned chase by them. They might have got their batting order a bit wrong. But then, hindsight is always a great friend.

For the Scorchers though, everything seemed to have worked out well. They posted 197 batting first, the highest total recorded at this ground. All batters looked in sublime touch for the Men in Orange. And, what an inspired spell of bowling was that from Mitchell Kelly with returns of 4-0-25-4. Excellent figures that.
There certainly was a phase where Beau Webster was threatning to take it away from the Scorcher's but he hardly got any support from the others. Glenn Maxwell's poor form in the tournament continues and a questionable decision to bat Joe Clarke down the order might well have cost them the game.

The Perth Scorcher's juggernaut continues. They are almost certain of a top two finish. They look strong as ever. The Melbourne Stars, however, would really be hoping to play a full strength side for their remaining games as they continue to linger at the bottom half of the table.
