That's all from us then! We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this BBL 12 game between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers. This is Soumarya Dutta, signing off, on behalf of my partner Mohul Bhowmick. See you soon!
Sydney Sixers 117 all out in 20 overs Hayden Kerr 42(35) | Jhye Richardson 4/9 Jordan Silk 41(32) | Jason Behrendorff 2/22
The Perth Scorchers are up and running in BBL 12! They have eked out an outstanding win here at the Optus stadium under difficult circumstances. They were looking down and out at the half way stage as they had only managed to score 155 in their innings. But they bowled remarkably well to restrict the strong Sixers batting line up to just 117 and managed to win this game by 38 runs. The Sixers never really got going as they lost their top order within the power play itself. They were reeling at 31/5 at one stage but a 75 run 6th wicket partnership between Hayden Kerr and Jordan Silk, saved the blushes for them. The duo kept them in the hunt for a large part of the innings, but once Hayden Kerr was dismissed in the 17th over, it sparked a dramatic collapse and the lower order capitulated under pressure.
The Scorchers bowlers had a field day as all of them ended up in the wickets column. The wickets procession was started by the experienced Jason Behrendorff who picked up two wickets inside the powerplay. Jhye Richardson, though was the pick of the bowlers as he finished off with astonishing figures of 4/9 in his 4 overs. It was an unbelievable comeback from him especially given that he hadn't played any cricket in the last eight months in the build up to this game.
Overall, the Scorchers will be really this performance tonight! They have always taken pride in being a side that defends well and they've proved it once again here. The Sixers will be really gutted though. They had an excellent opportunity to win this one and get the points on the board but they squandered that away with some reckless batting.

19.6 Andrew Tye to Izharulhaq Naveed, OUT! The Scorchers win by 38 runs! At a length on middle and leg, Naveed slogs at this one too and only manages to find the fielder at long on, who is not going to be dropping something as simple as this! The Sixers put up a disappointing performance with the bat, and were bowled out for 117 in twenty overs. Two consecutive losses for the Sixers while the Scorchers get off to a great start!
19.5 Andrew Tye to Izharulhaq Naveed, shortish outside off, Naveed tries to swing wildly but he MISSES!
19.4 Andrew Tye to Izharulhaq Naveed, yorker on middle, Naveed somehow keeps it out!
19.3 Andrew Tye to Naveen-ul-Haq, yorker on middle and leg, Naveen somehow keeps it out and works it to long on for a run.
19.2 Andrew Tye to Naveen-ul-Haq, at a length outside off, Naveen swings but gets an outside edge back to the bowler.
19.1 Andrew Tye to Naveen-ul-Haq, at a length on middle, Naveen pats it back.
Andrew Tye [3.0-0-23-1] back into the attack.
Take a bow Jhye Richardson! He has been unbelievable today and he has ended up with astonishing figures of 4/9 in 4 overs. It's only a formality now for the Scorchers with 1 over remaining.

18.6 Jhye Richardson to Jackson Bird, BOWLED HIM! FOUR FOR RICHARDSON! Full and straight on middle, Bird tries to go for the slog in desperation but MISSES the line of the ball completely and is bowled! Proper you miss, I hit stuff from Richardson here. This was an absolute beauty!
Jackson Bird b Jhye Richardson 2(5b 0x4 0x6)
18.5 Jhye Richardson to Naveen-ul-Haq, full on off, Naveen flicks it to long on for a run first up!
Naveen ul Haq, RHB, comes to the crease.
18.4 Jhye Richardson to Sean Abbott, BOWLED HIM! At a length on off, Abbott tries to play the scoop shot but only ends up in hitting the ball back onto the stumps. A forgettable day for Abbott continues, and he returns back to the pavilion dejected. Richardson bags his third wicket, and the Scorchers have all but won this game!
Sean Abbott bowled Jhye Richardson 6(8b 0x4 0x6)
18.3 Jhye Richardson to Jackson Bird, at a length on off and middle, Bird works it to long on for a run.
18.2 Jhye Richardson to Jackson Bird, short of a length outside off, Bird plays and MISSES!
18.1 Jhye Richardson to Sean Abbott, at a length outside off, Abbott drives it to deep cover for a run.
It's looking all but over for the Sixers now! The pressure of the required rate was telling on them and Jordan Silk perished in the pursuit of some quick runs. They need 42 runs from the last two overs now and one of them is going to be from Jhye Richardson.
