That's it from this match, folks! Thank you for sticking around for the madness with me (Rudransh) and Bidipto. The top-four are finalised now and the last four matches of the tournament would hopefully only get better. We'll see you soon, have a good rest of your day!
Daniel Hughes is the Player of the Match! Here is what he has to say.
Daniel Hughes: This game is right up there as far as the great BBL matches are concerned! But then, it was a tremendous effort from Moises Henriques to hold his nerves and finish it for us. It's not easy winning over here, maybe my second win in my entire career right here, but, that was special! It will be a big game against the Heat in the Qualifier, and we are definitely looking forward to that now. Really happy to contribute to this kind of a win, surely!
SIXERS WIN A LAST-BALL THRILLER! IN A BATTLE OF CAPTAINS, IN A BATTLE OF ABSOLUTE TITANS OF THIS COMPETION, IT'S THE SIXERS WHO COME ON TOP AND WILL DESERVEDLY TAKE A SECOND PLACE FINISH. AND THEY CHASE A RECORD HIGH TOTAL!
Sixers win by three wickets!
Daniel Hughes 74 (43) | Ben Dwarshuis (2/23) Laurie Evans 72 (34) | Jason Behrendorff (3/35)
This match swung here there and everywhere. At the end it was neck and neck with the scores tied on the very last ball and the Sixers would thank all of the smallest of margins that went their way today. It is such a big, pivotal and historic win for the Sixers where everyone chipped in magnificently. It's the kind of wins that propel you to win tournaments and they'll now have two shots at reaching that final.
The Scorchers would have thought they had more than enough on board in the first innings and they did. The Sixers just weren't having any of it. They went hard from the get go. Helped by a bit of luck, Richardson's absence and a lot of skill the openers got them off to a flying start. Everyone who came through then just kept that intent going.
Hughes held one end like a beast and just never let his strike rate down aiming to anchor or something like that. Phillips came in and helped him by not playing a second fiddle. Hardie came out to take out Hughes and the Sixers wobbled a bit before Bherendorff struck twice in one over.
Henriques had been threatening a big innings all season but was wasting his starts but today he had a different determination. He was on it from ball one seeing the opportunity to do something special and mauled the bowlers all around the park. He ran out of the partners in the last over and almost sold his team down on the last ball of the 19th over but when he came back on strike, the match was only going one way!

19.6 Aaron Hardie to Moises Henriques, SYDNEY SIXERS ARE GOING TO THE QUALIFIER FOR A FACE OFF AGAINST BRISBANE HEAT! THEIR SKIPPER ENSURES THAT! Short around off-stump. Henriques stayed on the back foot and slashed it away over the left of backward point. The ball sped away after that to the third man fence and hand the Scorchers their second defeat at home this season!
We checked for a short run but Henriques was safe. Imagine getting a short run at that stage! Now he has time to catch his breath and the Scorchers are doing a billion discussions. Sometimes they do it to keep the batter thinking. Almost all fielders are inside. JUST DEEP MID-WICKET AND LONG ON are out now.
19.5 Aaron Hardie to Moises Henriques, length ball around off-stump. Punched to the deep cover point fielder's right on the up for another well-run couple here! The throw to the bowler was the wrong choice here! No run out, no short-run either. Both got checked and are fine. 1 run to get now off 1 ball!
AND HE QUIETENS THE CROWD IN STYLE! SIXERS CAPTAIN'S ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT SIXES IN BBL!
19.4 Aaron Hardie to Moises Henriques, SIX RUNS! SIX PRECIOUS RUNS AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME FOR THE SIXERS! Short and slow on middle-and-leg. Pummeled over deep backward square-leg on the back foot for a maximum! 3 runs to get off 2 balls!
Boooooos go around the ground as Henriques takes some time to get ready
19.3 Aaron Hardie to Moises Henriques, low full toss again, on middle-stump. Pumped out to the wide long-on region from deep in the crease for a well-run two! 9 runs remaining off 3 balls now!
CAPTAIN V CAPTAIN
19.2 Aaron Hardie to Sean Abbott, over the wicket, low full toss around off-stump. Punched down to long-off from deep in the crease for a single. 11 runs to get off 4 balls now....
Sean Abbott, RHB, is here with a job to do
HAVEN'T THE SIXERS CAPITULATED HERE? THIS IS MADNESS! Henriques is still not on strike and he's losing balls.
19.1 Aaron Hardie to Ben Dwarshuis, DWARSHUIS IS RUN OUT! Full, slow and wide outside off-stump. A big swing and a miss this time through the line. Dwarshuis wandered out of his crease for no reason and Inglis hit the stumps direct to get him going back to the pavilion!
Ben Dwarshuis run out (Josh Inglis) 0 (1b, 0x4, 0x6)
The captain who picked two massive wickets in the day is here
19.1 Aaron Hardie to Ben Dwarshuis, round the wicket, full and too WIDE outside off-stump! Will have to bowl it again. 12 runs to get off 6 balls!
Hardie will bowl this
Ben Dwarshuis, LHB, comes in and is on strike
So much happened there. They should have tried to keep Moises on strike and the third run just didn't make any sense. They were so far away from it and it's not a three-run ground either at the moment. Now the new batter will be on strike.

18.6 Jason Behredorff to Hayden Kerr, RUN OUT THIS TIME! KERR GOES! Length ball slowed down around off-stump. Lifted on the up over extra cover for a couple of runs but the suicidal third run costs Kerr his wicket this time! Moises will remain off strike.
