End of the match!
Melbourne Stars win by 33 runs!
Sophia Dunkley 73 (48) | Sophie Day (4/26) Amy Jones 42 (30) | Piepa Cleary (2/30)
You watch that match without knowing the teams' positions on the points table and you'd think it's the Strikers who are fighting for that top spot in the points table. This is such a clinical win. 157 looked enough on this pitch with a bit of swing movement and extra bounce but they made it look so much bigger.
Sutherland and Garth set the tone with the new ball, extracting a lot of seam movement and bowling in the perfect areas to send both Devine and Darke back early. Mooney watched it all unfold from the other end until Day came on and prized her out too. With the score at 19/3, Sciver-Brunt and Amy Jones did a rebuild. Both timed the balls well, and ticked of 6-7 runs every over to keep Scorchers in the game.
Capsey's wicket of the former was the match-turning one. From then on, Jones never really found any support. She herself got dropped twice and despite finding boundaries comfortably, saw wickets tumble in heaps from the other end, courtesy of Day and Sutherland's astute bowling changes. Eventually Day pinned Jones on the pads and the Scorchers' lower order couldn't do much else except stretching the match to the final over.

19.6 Annabel Sutherland to Chloe Ainsworth, THAT'S IT! Melbourne Stars make it three straight wins and it's a resounding win here tonight and Scorchers have to wait to go back to the top of the table here. Ainsworth clubbed the length delivery down to long-on for just one.
19.5 Annabel Sutherland to Chloe Ainsworth, pace off, back of a length outside the off-stump. Ainsworth waits and cuts it hard, but went striaght to over fielder. Last ball coming up!
19.4 Annabel Sutherland to Alana King, length delivery on the stumps, King swings at it and takes the outside edge, doesn't carry to point fielder who slides across as they pick up another single.
19.3 Annabel Sutherland to Chloe Ainsworth, OH DEAR! Just evades the keeper there. Well disguised slower one that Ainsworth fails to read and that takes the outside edge and goes over the keeper as they pick up a single.
19.2 Annabel Sutherland to Alana King, full on the stumps, King slams it down the ground to long-off and picks up another single.
19.1 Annabel Sutherland to Chloe Ainsworth, single taken.
Only a matter of time now. Any runs the Scorchers score are only to help their NRR.
