Rana Sarwar 35 (16) | Prince Dhiman - 2/21
What a humdinger of a contest this was! The match went right down to the wire and a few inches decided the winner of the contest off the last ball! Francoise Stoman to Adam Alger, the batter went for the pull and a pressure catch by Anthony Chambers just in front of the deep mid-wicket rope, with fingers pointing up, sealed the deal! Wow! What a contest this was and what a huge win for Portugal!
The best thing about this innings was the never-say-die attitude of Spain with the bat, always looking to attack and the relentless sustenance of pressure with the ball from Portugal! Eventually, some important catches from the Portuguese and some slightly iffy decisions from the batting side of things for Spain, ended up reflecting in the result. But the start provided by Junaid Khan with the ball and then the bowling of Rana Sarwar in the middle, did the trick for Conrad Greenshields' side.
Credit has to be given to Adam Alger for batting so well in the last over to almost hand his team a victory, but Francoise Stoman's comeback balls after getting hit for back-to-back sixes, was remarkable.
So we come to the end of perhaps the best match of the ECC so far in this edition at the Cartama Oval. This is the pair of Soorya and Bidipto, saying good bye, keep following Sportskeeda! There is more T10 action to come from this tournament tonight itself!

9.6 Francoise Stoman to Adam Alger, SWUNG...AND TAKEN! HEARTBREAK FOR ALGER AND SPAIN! It's the absolute gift that Alger was after as Stoman dishes out a juicy full toss at the stumps. He heaves as hard as he can aiming for the mid-wicket fence but doesn't get as much elevation as he would have liked and picks out the boundary rider who holds his nerve and pouches it with reverse-cupped palms. Alger is down on his haunches as he can't believe what's happened while it's ecstasy amongst the Portuguese. Oh what a contest we've witnessed! Portugal prevail by 5 runs!
Adam Alger c Anthony Chambers b Francoise Stoman 20 (10b, 0x4, 3x6)
Six runs to get off one ball!
9.5 Francoise Stoman to Adam Alger, BRILLIANT DELIVERY! Follows the batter with a dipping yorker on leg stump as Alger moves aside and swings with gay abandon as he should. Just sneaks through though to beat the stumps en route to the keeper.
Six runs to get off two balls.
9.4 Francoise Stoman to Adam Alger, slanting into leg stump on a length, Alger hangs deep and whips it to deep square leg. They don't run though and rightly so. It's Alger or Portugal here!
Six runs to get off three balls!
9.3 Francoise Stoman to Adam Alger, SIX MORE! ALGER IS DOING IT! Stoman overcompensates and dishes one into the arc around off stump. Alger hangs deep and gets underneath this one to smear it up and over extra cover with all might. Just one hit away now!
Twelve runs to get off four balls!
9.2 Francoise Stoman to Adam Alger, SIX! WOW! It's not over yet! Short and width on offer, Alger rocks back to thrash it with all might as it flies over backward point and thuds into the advertising hoardings!
9.1 Francoise Stoman to Atif Mohammad, works this one towards deep mid-wicket for a single to get Alger on strike. It's all down to him now!
Francoise Stoman, right-arm medium, is into the attack.
It is all down to Alger here, he has to take five balls in the last over. Otherwise, it seems as though Portugal will take the game! Let's go!

8.6 Fakhrul Hussain to Adam Alger, SWING AND A MISS! He expects a wide but the umpire makes the right call. Full and slanting well past the batter as Alger swings in vain. Inside the tramline and the umpire gets it spot on!
8.5 Fakhrul Hussain to Atif Mohammad, APPEAL! Shapes it back into the pads as Atif doesn't get bat on his attempted clip around the corner. The batters pinch a leg bye and it would have surely slid past the stumps there!
Hat-trick ball!
Atif Mohammad, RHB, is at the crease.
8.4 Fakhrul Hussain to Tom Vine, OUT! GONE FIRST BALL! Good length delivery outside off stump and Vine stays low to throw his hands at it. Off the toe-end and it balloons into the hands of short third man who makes no mistake. Hussain is on a hat-trick with Spain one wicket away from being bundled out!

8.3 Fakhrul Hussain to Mohammad Kamran, OUT! THERE GOES ANOTHER! Right in the arc on the fifth-stump line and Kamran, despite clearing his front foot and swinging for the bleachers, can only balloon it into the sky before it drops safely into the hands of long on. Portugal can smell victory within sight!
