That's all that we have for you from this contest. The Paarl Royals move to 2nd in the points table - behind the Durban Super Giants on net run rate. The current table toppers will go up against the Joburg Super Kings at their own den tomorrow - at Kingsmead. Join us right here on Sportskeeda for our coverage of the same, and of course, a whole lot more! This is Rajarshi Das, signing off on behalf of Balashankar Prasanna. Good night!
Lungisani Ngidi is the Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: The batsmen did very well to set the game up for us, we did lose a couple of wickets upfront, but David and Mitch pulled things back nicely. When we came out to bowl, I kind of know the areas and the lines to hit having played here. I put my slip in place and showed them what I'd do with the ball. It was kind of nerve-wrecking when Rilee and Jacks got a partnership going, most of their boundaries were flying to the shorter side. Our aim was to keep calm, stick to our game plans, and it worked in our favour eventually. Having Shane Bond as a coach has given me the freedom to express myself. I would say I bowled too many slower balls, but he said keep going! I trust myself as much as I can, I went in and did what I knew best, slower ones, wide of the crease, and then you throw them a quick one as well, keep those guys guessing! I'm a Paarl boy now! This is the team I'm playing, and I'm going to make sure I give them a trophy. Unfortunately, it had to happen here, but I'm glad that the Paarl Royals won.
David Miller, Paarl Royals captain: Good score on the board, getting a couple of wickets upfront and leaking at the back-end of the powerplay kind of let us down, but that's the nature of this wicket. I think, all in all, very happy with the result. We pulled it right till the end, and the guys put a great shift! It did seam a little bit, a touch on the slow side to start with. The guys had a clear plan and bowled to it, executing it really well. I'm very happy we had to take that review to get that breather in the last over. When the ball's flying around, you're kind of all over the show, but with Jos around, you get some perspective. I was just really praying that Obed finishes his spell, we were under the pump. We've got two results in, home and away, hope we keep this momentum going.
Jimmy Neesham (Pretoria Capitals captain): Sell out for the first game. Tough wicket to bowl on, runs we galore. It was tough with a player of the quality of Miller batting through the middle, incredibly difficult. We thought it was a bit above par, but definitely chaseable. We had the game in our hands, but just couldn't get over. It's a collective effort. Whenever you are chasing 10's, 11's or 12's, you need some luck to go your way and aggression to come off. Could have come off another day. We need to stay aggressive in this format. By and large, we played good cricket today. If you do that, the results skew your way in the end. It's all about saying relaxed, and brush on the few areas where we were a bit rusty.
Match summary:
Paarl Royals win by 10 runs
David Miller 75*(42) | Lungisani Ngidi 4/39 (4) Rilee Rossouw 82(45) | James Neesham 1/18 (2)
A target of 211 wasn't quite out of grasp for the Pretoria Capitals - given the conditions on offer. With Will Jacks and Rilee Rossouw going great guns, they were in complete command going into the last five overs, but once the 3rd wicket partnership of 147 came to an end, the complexion of the game changed rather dramatically. The Paarl Royals bowlers made a grand comeback, and for the second successive time, the Pretoria Capitals middle-order couldn't get the job done.
Lungisani Ngidi put the Paarl Royals firmly in the driver's seat with a couple of wickets in the first over itself. Salt tried to give the charge and nicked to slip, and de Bruyn dragged a wide one onto his stumps. That brought the duo of Will Jacks and Rilee Rossouw together, and what followed in the powerplay, and then beyond was simply carnage.
The tactic to get an over in from Fortuin, replacing Ngidi, turned out to be fatal for the Royals. 16 runs came off the 3rd over, and from then on, the Pretoria Capitals gained immense momentum. Ngidi went for 14 in his second over as well as Jacks and Rossouw tried matching each other's scores every now and then. There were two quiet overs after the powerplay, but once the duo played an over out off Shamsi, they went on to take the wrist-spinner to the cleaners.
Half-centuries came up for both the players in quick succession, and then Rossouw went on to lead the charge with some truly sumptuous blows. But once he was held rather spectacularly by Roy, the tide turned. Jacks followed soon after, and even though the equation seemed within reach of the Pretoria Capitals, the newer batters were just not able to keep the momentum going.
Corbin Bosch, with his reverse sweep for six against Ngidi, provided the Capitals with a ray of hope, but once he was dismissed by the same bowler, the game slipped further away from them. The equation was 14 off the final six, and McCoy, given the last over, wasn't quite in shape to bowl, but went on to concede just three with his change-ups. Paarl Royals clinch a high-scoring thriller, completing a double against the Capitals this year. Onto the presentations now...
Tremendous! Simply tremendous from Obed McCoy and the Paarl Royals! The left-armer is on his haunches as the Royals complete a resounding victory, and is now mobbed by his teammates!

McCoy has the heart of a lion. He is really struggling through this over, stretching his leg after every ball.
19.3 Obed McCoy to Hardus Viljoen, full and straight on the stumps, pace on the ball. Viljoen moves across the stumps and misses to get hit on the pads. The Royals are going for the review
Pitching outside off, impact is in line and it is missing the stumps. Viljoen survives but it has given some time for McCoy to work with the physio
19.2 Obed McCoy to Hardus Viljoen, slower ball on a good length. Once again Viljoen can't connect. Fumble by Buttler but they decide against a bye
19.1 Obed McCoy to Hardus Viljoen, slower ball on a length outside off. He has a swing at it but doesn't make contact
Looks like McCoy is ready to go now!
Uh oh... McCoy seems to be in quite a bit of discomfort. Seems like cramp - he's down, and getting his legs stretched. The physio is out...
Obed McCoy (3-0-27-1) is back into the attack
Brilliant change-ups from Phehlukwayo in the penultimate over! Now then - 14 runs, 6 balls... McCoy has a job to perform!
