Match summary
Roma Cricket Club beat Asian Latina by 5 wickets.
Charles Fernando 37 (11) | Crishan Kalugamage 2/10 (2) Charanjeet Singh 49 (15) | Amandeep Singh 2/33 (2)
Well, it was the openers who gave them an amazing start but it was in a blink of an eye that they were dismissed before the end of the batting powerplay. They gave the batters a good foundation to rest on and the batters were not bogged down by the falling wickets. Well! Talk about the spirit of the defending champions.
It was Fernando who was hitting the big runs, but the party was a very short one as after that the wickets kept falling. All was not lost for the batting side as the new batters that came on the crease ensured to play as a team, as they were hitting big runs from time to time until the 4th wicket. Things slightly slowed things down for the batters as the match went on to the last over. The last over, had all the drama you would want from a semi-final but it was the defending champions who go marching on towards the finals.
9.3 Sukhbir Singh to Pruthuvi Samarage, FOUR! ROMA CC BOOK THEIR SPOT IN THE FINALS! Full toss and it's been driven in the gap in front of square for a boundary
9.2 Sukhbir Singh to Thushara Samarakoon, shuffles across the off-stump and Samarakoon helps it past short fine leg. Samarage denies the second run
Thushara Samarakoon, RHB, is the new batter in.
This is a cracker of a contest but some sloppy stuff from the bowling side. He has overstepped three times in this match here as we count this one!
9.2 Sukhbir Singh to Rahat Ahmed, RUN OUT! Short of a length outside of, Rahat swings away from the body but didn't get any contact. They decide to sneak a bye and the keeper completes the direct hit. Both batters are nowhere near the frame and the discussion is who should be given out. Looks like Samarage didn't cross Rahat when the bails popped up. Still this ball is not counted because Sukhbir has overstepped again
Rahat Ahmed run out (Rishpal Singh) 16 (10b 1x4 1x6)
9.1 Sukhbir Singh to Pruthuvi Samarage, short of a length slanting across off, Samarage pulls and gets a top-edge. The ball goes straight to deep cover and they take one
9.1 Sukhbir Singh to Pruthuvi Samarage, BOWLED! Full on leg-stump, Samarage shuffles across to ramp this but the ball flattens all three stumps. Oh wait, Sukhbir has overstepped
Sukhbir Singh [1-0-22-0] coming back into the attack
Well, this is going toward the last ball here but the batters seems injured. This is some drama in the semi final!
