Royal Challengers Bangalore played a near perfect match tonight and got themselves over the line with 9 ball to spare. And doing the bulk of the work for them, was young left-hand opening bat Anuj Rawat, who was rightly adjudged the player of the match.

Virat Kohli too was among the runs today, missing out on a half-century narrowly, with an iffy decision of LBW that went against him. Glenn Maxwell came out to bat for the first time this season and got 10 off 2 ball to finish the match.

Mumbai Indians began decently, with tight bowling and sharp fielding, but the second over from Murugan Ashwin opened the floodgates for RCB to make their impact in the run chase. Since then, Jaydev Unadkat and he got targeted. Kieron Pollard too did nor bowl well enough to keep the pressure applied.

Jasprit Bumrah going wicket-less is a concern for this MI bowling attack, as the rest of the bowling does look slightly weak.

The running between the wickets too was excellent from the RCB, with the Kohli-Rawat partnership stealing the show.

Player of the Match, Anuj Rawat: It feels great! I scored runs and we won, so I'm really happy! I was following my process, and even though I did not get the runs in the previous games like I would have hoped for, it came off well today. Yes for sure, the management, the experienced players like Virat bhai and Faf, have helped me a lot to feel settled.

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Faf du Plessis, at the post-match presentation: It feels really good, Mumbai is a strong team, so it was a really good win. We will definitely take 152 against Mumbai any day. We wanted to make sure that we got the wickets early on with the ball, Rohit and Ishan did get off to a great start, but we pegged them back nicely. We would have liked to have given away a few less runs towards the end though. Anuj Rawat is a fine player, a very good player who has a lot of composure in his batting which will only help us in going forward. The mix of experience and youth is working well for us.

Rohit Sharma: (On two overseas players) Just the combination we felt would be ideal on certain pitches and against certain oppositions. Unfortunately, some overseas players were not available. I wanted to bat as long as possible but got out at the wrong time. Definitely not a 150-pitch. Surya showed us if you bat sensibly, you can get runs. Credit to him, he got us to 150. We want some of our batters to bat as deep as possible and of course, if we get runs on the board, there is always something for the bowlers to do. Last game we got 150, this game we got 160. It is never going to be enough. We took our chances with the ball but they batters quite sensibly. I have spoken of collective performance from bat and ball and once that comes through we will start seeing the results.

Wanindu Hasaranga: Happy with my performance but also happy about the team winning. (On googly) Normally my googly will turn more than the leg spin that's why I like to bowl the googly. Good batting side, we have lots of talent so when I get the chance, I am ready to finish.

Even if he is economical, which he usually is, the bowling attack that Mumbai Indians have this season, does nor allow for him to go without taking a wicket. The pace has been up, the accuracy has been there, but unfortunately, the wickets column has been empty. Some good, urgent running has resulted in overthrows in the over as well!
