Match summary:
Salt Pond Breakers win by 6 wickets with 9 balls to spare
Kadeem Alleyne 29(15) | Jomel Warrican 2/15 (2) Carlos Brathwaite 28(14) | Ray Jordan 2/26 (2)
Fort Charlotte Strikers started off well with the ball, but they lost their way as the chase rolled into the middle overs. There were too many sundries being conceded, Breakers' promotion of Delorn Johnson up the order paid off for them, and the game was decided right then. Thanks to Johnson and Kadeem Alleyne, the batters could take it easier later on, and Ricavo Williams got the job done within the penultimate over.
Ray Jordan and Jerome Jones hit the perfect notes at the start, keeping the runs down to 5 in the two overs. Jordan accounted for Ambris off the second delivery itself, and it seemed like we were in for a low scoring thriller. Nedd was stuck in the middle, struggling to time the ball right, and departed having played 10 balls in exchange of 2 runs.
And then, Kadeem Alleyne stepped up. 16 runs came in Bobb's over after the left arm spinner dismissed Nedd. That was when the tide shifted towards the Breakers. Johnson dug into Jordan in the following over, smashing a couple of boundaries before departing. By the time Brathwaite dismissed Alleyne, the Strikers were in with a sniff, but it was a little too late. Ryan John and Ricavo shortened the equation, bringing it to a run-a-ball in the last couple of overs, and Ricavo finished things off with a couple of sixes.
8.4 Gidron Pope to Ricavo Williams, SIX MORE! IT'S ALL OVER! Strikers make it three in three and are firmly seated at the top of the table now. Short on the stumps, Williams camps back and CLUBBED it way over deep mid-wicket fence for a huge maximum to seal the game.
8.3 Gidron Pope to Ricavo Williams, friendly full toss on the stumps, Williams misses out as he clipped it gently to short mid-wicket.
8.2 Gidron Pope to Ricavo Williams, SIX! BOOM! Williams is on fire here. Length delivery on the stumps. Williams stood tall and POWERED it straight down the ground for a maximum.
8.1 Gidron Pope to Ricavo Williams, length delivery on the stumps. Williams clipped it into the on-side towards vacant mid-wicket and they hustle back for the brace.
Gidron Pope, right-arm off-break, comes into the attack
12 needed off 12. The Breakers will want to finish things off in this over itself.
