Thank you so much for your patience, folks! This is Mohul and Tasmai signing off for Sportskeeda! Have a good day!
All over! England have successfully defeated the Spaniards in what was an enthralling game of cricket all along! England beat Spain with 9 balls and 8 wickets to spare! Notable performances: First innings: Daniel Doyle Calle 62 (25)| Tom Hinley (2/27) Second innings: Sam Young 46(20)| Raja Adeel (1/31)
An engrossing game of cricket comes to an end! England outweighed Spain in all possible dimensions- especially in the way they constrained the run flow in the middle overs, while also being the comprehensively better fielding side. They went about their batting with a sense of ease, never once letting Spain think they could bounce back. The way Young batted and was complimented by Lincoln and Hinley in the middle later, just showed why this team are the defending champions.
Spain particularly missed out today on the field. Easy sitters were dropped, bringing back to memory the famous quote- "catches win matches". Another thing Spain missed out on, was the services of a quality finger spinner on a wicket that majorly assisted bounce and we saw the havoc Scott wrecked with the ball in hand.
Was nice to see 2 gutsy spinners for a change, in a format as short as this!
The way the English top 3 went about their innings, made them almost unstoppable! Any ploy- whether the short ball or the cutters into the surface, nothing worked! On the other hand, Spain were clearly getting deceived by the change of pace and length.
In conclusion, England were definitely the better team today and showcased their class in mass today!!
9.0
8.3 Hamza Saleem Dar to Tom Hinley, at a length outside off, moves away. Hinley pushes it towards cover. Single taken. ENGLAND XI WIN THIS GAME!
8.2 Hamza Saleem Dar to Tom Hinley, DROPPED! Short of a length on off and middle, rises well. Hinley pulls at it but gets a top edge. The ball goes high up in the air but is shelled by the fielder at long on, who runs in all the way. A couple taken.
8.1 Hamza Saleem Dar to Tom Hinley, SIX! BANG! Short of a length on off and middle. Hinley goes back and pulls it away over deep midwicket for a massive hit!
A sub par over from Lorne Burns! Captain brought him on to bowl, to change things up, but it works against his favour and changes fortunes for the batsman! Every single ball was dispatched over mid wicket or square leg, rather than through the original line of the ball. Exceptional batting from both the batters! Next over could very well be the last over of the game!

7.1 Lorne Burns to David Scott, SIX! BANG! Tossed up on off and middle, turns away. Scott gets down on his knees and slog sweeps it over deep midwicket for a maximum!
After the first ball, don't remember Adeel bowling anything wide and full again. Every delivery ever since in an over as crux as this, was short of a length outside off stump, begging to be hit against the line of delivery. In a stage like this, variation is key and that's something this over lacked. Wouldn't risk the spinner next over!
