Commentary

Right, that was the final game of the day, quite an entertaining one that with Liege posing a fight, and even a potential threat to be honest. They were off to a flyer in the powerplay and only if they could carry the same scoring rate forward, we would have had a different result. Well, only if! Falling 30 runs short in the end.

It was Abdul Rehman with his 17-ball 38 who led the charge at the top. However, once he fell, the going got tough and no one was quite able to play that impact innings for Liege. Burhan Niaz did give them some hope with his 10-ball 24, but he couldn't last long enough either and the effort, though spirited, was not going to be enough to take them past the line.

Two wickets in the same over for Aseif, that broke the opening stand and the momentum for Liege as well, was the turning point for Sparta in that second innings. Shariz Ahmad bowled an exceptional spell in the middle as well, pulling things back and Liege could not get the big overs from there on. Two wickets for Tom Hoornweg as well and a fine all-round show in the end.

That's six times in a row that he has failed to connect and he just about gets his bat inside the crease with the keeper gunning down the stumps. It was a scare but Sparta Cricket 1888 manage to get over the line by 30 runs!
