Until the next time, it's adios from the commentary box. This is Arya Sekhar Chakraborty signing off along with my fellow commentator and good mate Rajarshi. Take care.
The match has been abandoned for the day and has been rescheduled. It has been this kind of a tournament and it's such a shame that we have had so many washouts. However this is part of the game as we look forward to the remainder of the tournament. We hope that we don't get any more washouts as every matches from here on will be very important for all the teams.
Hello and a very good evening, people! Welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the second Road Safety World Series T20 fixture of the day, one between the Sri Lanka Legends and New Zealand Legends! Joining me, Rajarshi, for the coverage of this contest will be Arya, and we hope to take you through a cricket match without any interruptions, for there have been too many of them in this tournament so far!
The Sri Lanka Legends have arguably been the best team in the tournament so far. They have a 100 percent win record after their first three games, with victories against Australia, England and South Africa Legends. Their top-order has been vital to their success so far, with the biggest example being in their first game itself, the one against the Australia Legends, in which they hit 218 in 20 overs, 208 of which was notched up by the opening pair themselves - Dilshan Munaweera and Tillakaratne Dilshan! While Munaweera missed out on a hundred by 5 runs that day, Dilshan got to it, and was the only Sri Lankan Legend cricketer to be dismissed!
The other factor that has gone in favour of them is the spin off the surfaces they have played on. Against England Legends, 7 out of 10 wickets fell to spin as England Legends were bundled out for 78. Jayasuriya returned with figures of 4 for 3 in his four overs that day. The encounter between them and South Africa Legends was a closer one, with the Sri Lankan ekeing out a win by 11 runs.
New Zealand have had a tough pack of cards throughout this tournament. They have been a part of four fixtures, and they got to complete only a couple of them. Their tournament started with a defeat to South Africa, on a Green Park wicket which aided spin quite a lot. New Zealand could only manage 98 that day, and the South Africa Legends surpassed their score with over 6 overs to spare. New Zealand Legends bounced back well enough in their next game, a curtailed fixture against Bangladesh Legends, winning the same by 8 wickets.
All in all, we hope that the cricket actually takes place today. Plenty of matches have been washed out due to persistent rain in different parts of India, we can only hope for the best. Stay tuned for further updates!
