Gerhard Erasmus, Namibia captain: It's been an incredible journey, last year was a special experience for us. We start off with a great win, but there's lots of work to do throughout this tournament. It's a historic day for us, the day's been quite special and we want to kick on from here and qualify for the Super 12 stages, understanding there's a bigger picture as well. (On Albie Morkel's role as coach) He turned the whole thing around for us in 2019 credit goes to him in the way he's instilled the culture in this team. One that's a winning culture and one that sticks together, and with the limited resources that we have and in terms of the plan. I don't think there's anyone else that can run such a tight ship as he has over the last three years. Special moments like this, days like this is what there's some payback.

Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka captain: We did not execute our plans with the ball and that well enough. This is a concern for sure. And with the bat, we need our openers to click and the no. 3 to get going too. The partnerships too, need to be built. If we work on these areas, we will come through I feel.

Frylinck: I am a little bit speechless! We have pulled off a massive win today! JJ and myself got off to a competitive total and we were sure about defending this, at least very confident. The pitch was two-paced and it wasn't an easy track to bat on. We hit the right lengths and did not give away easy balls to them to hit. But as I said, this has been a performance never to forget for us!

What just happened, what on earth just happened?! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I'd be typing out that match summary! The Namibia team are in a huddle, they have inspired thousands of individuals with their fighting performance on a sunny afternoon at Geelong, and now they re-group and let the whole thing sink in! Namibia had enough momentum when they walked out to defend a total of 164 thanks to the finish that they had, Sri Lanka dented some of it with the start in the first over, but then when Kusal Mendis top-edged a short ball in the second over and was pouched by Zane Green, the Namibians felt right back in the game!

Two wickets in two balls from the 22-year-old Ben Shikongo sent them cock-a-hoop! Shikongo finished with a maiden in his first over, and unlike the Namibians, the Lankans just could not stitch a partnership in the middle-stages! They kept going for the big shots far too often on this big ground and kept finding the palms of the fielders. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka, two of Sri Lanka's most dependable finishers, tried to make a game out of it, coming together for 34 runs for the fifth wicket before the left-handed Rajapaksa holed out to left-arm spinner Ben Scholtz in the deep pocket at deep mid-wicket!

The Sri Lankans still had their lower-order to bank on, but when Wanindu Hasaranga and Dasun Shanaka, two players who are reputed to bring their team out of the woods from seemingly impossible situations departed, the Namibians could sense their dream turn into a reality. The Sri Lankan nerves looked wrecked when we saw Pramod Madushan being run out trying to take a tight run, Karunaratne, the last recognised batter then tried to clear long-off and as everyone else in his batting line-up, holed out in the deep. From then on, it was about trying to reduce the impact on the net run rate for the Sri Lankans. Dushmantha Chameera and Maheesh Theekshana, numbers 10 and 11, tried to bat the 20 overs but Gerhard Erasmus took the catch to bundle them out with one over left and sparked wild celebrations among the Namibian team members and their camp.
