If today’s matches are anything to go by, we are going to experience spectacular contests as the tournament progresses. We will bring all the action to you.
As of now, allow us to take our leaves, this is Dwaipayan Mukherjee, signing off with my co-commentator Rajarshi Das.
That takes the Durban Super Giants to the top spot in the points table. Still very early days in the tournament but all teams will play their best games to ensure that they don’t fall into the rut of defeats.
The action comes thick and fast at the SA20. Paarl Royals won their game against Pretoria Capitals when they hosted them. The opportunity now arises for the Capitals to get going in their reverse fixture when they meet in Centurion tomorrow.
Jon-Jon Smuts, Player of the Match: Thought it to be a pretty good wicket - not as good as that if I am honest. Bit of luck. I know this wicket well. Have spent a lot of time here. It's a wicket that can be quite difficult for the newcomer. When batters get going, it's difficult to defend. Markram's a big wicket - obviously delighted to see the back of him. We've got a very strong squad assembled. Let's hope we can keep the momentum.
Keshav Maharaj, Durban Super Giants captain: Clinical performance today. Good to see the energy on the field. Heartening to see everyone putting their hand up when the opportunity presents itself. He got off the flight the other day and still executed (Gleeson). Now 2 games in 3 days, he showed the world class performer he is. This is always a special place when it comes to the atmosphere. Nice way to start the tournament.
Aiden Markram, Sunrisers Eastern Cape captain: Nice to be a part of the game, it was a good game. The general cricket lover would have enjoyed it. Unfortunately didn't go as per our liking. First game together as a team, the execution could have been better with the ball. (On Abell's catching attempt from earlier) Quite frightening what guys can do these days, they train for it as well. There's no panic now, time to learn and return stronger.
Durban Super Giants - 225/3 defeat Sunrisers Eastern Cape - 190/9 by 35 runs
Tom Abell - 65 (36) | Tristan Stubbs - 55 (26) Dwaine Pretorius - 2/19 | Richard Gleeson - 2/32
That makes it 2 wins out of 2 matches for the Durban Super Giants who would mighty pleased with how they have began the campaign. It would give them a lot of happiness with the way they turned up today.
It was a clinical effort with both bat and ball as a Smutts and Pooran master class took them to an exuberant and towering 225. It was always going to require the top drawer quality from Aiden Markram and his men. Matters were made difficult for them when the openers departed cheaply.
Markram and Abell stitched together an inspired 93 run stand in less than 9 overs that suddenly made the supporters in the ground believe that the improbable could actually happen.
That is when Smuts was thrusted with the bowling duties and he did not disappoint his skipper. Once Markram left, it was a bit too much left to do and even though Stubbs came up with a saving grace effort, the hosts succumbed to a 35 run defeat.
7 bowlers were used by Keshav Maharaj, including himself, where he took the all important wicket of Tom Abell. As Aiden Markram puts it in the post match presentation, it was definitely a great match for the genuine wicket taker.

19.6 Dwaine Pretorius to Ottneil Baartman, on a good length around off stump, Baartman has a wild swipe across the line, gets an inside edge onto pad. Just a single, and the Durban Super Giants claim the game by 35 runs!
Ottniel Baartman, RHB, comes to the crease
19.5 Dwaine Pretorius to Daniel Worrall, OUT! The wide yorker from Pretorius this time, Worrall slices this one on the volley. The connection was good - the placement was certainly not as Topley at short third takes a sharp catch!
Daniel Worrall c Reece Topley b Dwaine Pretorius 0 (2b, 0x4, 0x6)
19.4 Dwaine Pretorius to Daniel Worrall, pitched up outside off stump. Worrall has a swing, meets thin air instead
Daniel Worrall, RHB, comes to the crease
19.3 Dwaine Pretorius to Tristan Stubbs, OUT! Stubbs falls! He swings all around a full delivery on middle and off, is struck flush on the pads. Pretorius turned around for a rather polite appeal, and the umpire had his finger up! Stubbs calls for a review as he walks back...
Nothing on ultra-edge whatsoever. Three reds on the ball-tracking, and Stubbs is off the field already!
Tristan Stubbs lbw b Dwaine Pretorius 55 (26b, 3x4, 4x6)
19.2 Dwaine Pretorius to Simon Harmer, slower ball, pitched up on the pads, worked towards deep square leg for a run
19.1 Dwaine Pretorius to Simon Harmer, in the air... Dala can't get there! Slower ball, pitched up outside off. Harmer has a swing towards cow corner, Dala chases after it, can't get there. The batters get a brace
How important this knock can potentially be for the youngster Stubbs from the perspective of his individual performance? He did not have much going for him last season and this half-century albeit in a losing cause might just get things rolling in motion for the prodigious talent.

Richard Gleeson
2/32
18.6 Richard Gleeson to Tristan Stubbs, SIX! Fifty for Tristan Stubbs as well! Full, pace-on delivery on off stump, Stubbs gets right under this one and clubs it over the man and ropes at long on!
18.5 Richard Gleeson to Tristan Stubbs, skied... safe! Slower ball, wide outside off, Stubbs looked to heave it towards the leg side, got it off the toe end and the ball ballooned up towards long on. Lands safely, and the batters get two
18.4 Richard Gleeson to Tristan Stubbs, yorker on middle stump, drilled towards the long on region. A slight mis-field from Pooran in the deep helps them in returning for the second
