The Capitals win although they just missed out on a bonus point. They look such a strong side and well balanced too. That's it for this game. Tomorrow we have a double-header in this SA20. Do catch us for that. And keep following Sportskeeda for more. Until next time, it's a good night and sweet dreams to everyone. Ta, ta!
Wayne Parnell | Capitals captain: Winning here was really crucial, even though we were in control throughout the innings, I was nervous as they had good hitters still left. Phil is a class-act, not an innings we are used to seeing from him, but definitely got us a total that was defendable. There are areas we can still improve on, it was nice to get the first game out of the way. I have been working towards captaincy as I have been leading my domestic side for the last two years. It's a great opportunity to lead a great bunch of lads. Kallis is a legend of South African cricket and world cricket as well, good to have him with us.
Phil Salt | Player of the Match: I had to with the way we were losing wickets [rein himself in]. It was yeah [difficult with that pitch], we got our length right in the 2nd innings, as we hit a hard length a bit more than them - we have got a couple of X-factor bowlers, especially Anrich, maybe the wicket suited us more. The atmosphere tonight was tremendous and to play in front of that was phenomenal. Nervous coming back from injury and time out but it's good to be back outside and playing cricket again.
Aiden Markram | Sunrisers captain: We were a bit off the boil in all aspects of the game unfortunately. Will put it down to rustiness and look forward to Saturday. We have to correct our learnings and a great time for the bowlers to bounce back in Pretoria as they will be under pressure there. Still very early and lots to look forward to.
Convincing win for the Capitals who were never threatened in the chase. Smuts, Abell and Fuller tried their best but the Capitals always had a stranglehold on the game.
Anrich Nortje bowled at the speed of light as he clocked 154kph at times to unsettle the batters. Balls flew past startled batsmen and the key wicket of Stubbs was snuffed out by the pacer who came back to deal a vital blow.
Smuts fought hard but once the big wickets of Cox, Markram and Stubbs fell, he was waging a losing battle.
At the end runs came but that was when the game was almost done.
Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.
