Sussex Sharks beat Hampshire Hawks by 6 runs Oliver Carter 64 (33) | Liam Dawson 59 (34) Bradley Currie 3-27(4) | John Turner 2-30(3)
Ravi Bopara in all smiles as the Sharks get their third win of the campaign. They had the answers against the dangerous Hawks' top-order inside the powerplay as Bradley Currie ran through them with world-class swing bowling. Currie was simply unplayable with the new ball and the Hawks were reduced to 25-4. this contest was almost done and dusted
It seemed to be an uphill task but the partnership between Weatherley and Dawson provided some much-needed impetus to their innings and the duo slowly dragged the team back into the contest. The Hawks have a very strong lower order and the batters took the responsibility after a rare top-order failure. It was anybody's game when Ben Howell was at the crease and striking those boundaries with ease but Bradley Currie came up with a catch of the summer to get rid of him.
Soon after, Mills bowled a superb penultimate over and Karvelas was tasked with defending 22 runs. Ellis didn't give up as he smashed a boundary and a maximum to make this an edge-of-the-seat thriller. Ward produced a heroic work to save the maximum before Karvelas nailed the yorker in the next ball to bring a huge sigh of relief to the Sharks supporters at the stands
