This is me, Mohul Bhowmick, signing off also on behalf of my partner Pragadeesh from this exciting game in the KFC Big Bash League. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it to you. Until next time, goodbye!
Josh Philippe, Player of the Match: It was a tough wicket to bat on, and we knew about it from the get-go. The idea was to get set and then try to show some intent to get some runs on the board. It is always nice to win at home. It seemed a little scary towards the end, but we are happy we got over the line. If we brush some things off, we can get even better.
Sydney Sixers beat Hobart Hurricanes by 6 runs!
Josh Philippe 43 (21) | Patrick Dooley 2/19 Asif Ali 41 (13) | Sean Abbott 2/32
The Hurricanes tried their best to chase this total down, but in all honesty, their game was as good as over in the first three overs itself. Their openers D’Arcy Short and Ben McDermott tried their best to chase this total down, but once they departed, nobody else took up the responsibility to take them home.
The pitch appeared to be a little sluggish when they batted as compared to when the Sixers did. During the latter’s innings, the pitch seemed docile and abiding, but all of a sudden, in the second innings, it appeared to become a tad slow. The bowlers of the Sixers need to be applauded too, with the likes of Sean Abbott, Naveen-ul-Haq and Hayden Kerr all bowling with an intensity that their skipper Moises Henriques will be very proud of.
The big hitters in the Hurricanes lineup- Matthew Wade, Jimmy Neesham and Tim David- just could not find their rhythm and this hurt their side’s chances tremendously. Late-order batter Asif Ali struck a few lusty blows to keep his side in the hunt but even then the ask was too much for the Hurricanes. The Sixers will take a lot of confidence from this victory even though they were given a real scare by Asif Ali towards the end of the game.

13.6 Naveen-ul-Haq to Joel Paris, SIX! A final flourish from the Hurricanes but the Sixers get their first win of this campaign. Full toss on middle stump, Paris slogs it over long-on and it sails over the fielder's head
13.5 Naveen-ul-Haq to Nathan Ellis, slow delivery angling into the surface, Ellis heaves it to the leg-side and gets a run
13.4 Naveen-ul-Haq to Nathan Ellis, flicks the fuller delivery to deep square leg and the fielder fumbles. They take a couple
13.3 Naveen-ul-Haq to Nathan Ellis, right in the blockhole outside off-stump, Ellis tries to dig it but the ball goes underneath his bat
Nathan Ellis, RHB, is the new man to the crease.
And finally, Asif Ali has to depart! Can the Hurricanes still make it?
13.2 Naveen-ul-Haq to Asif Ali, HIGH...HIGH IN THE SYDNEY NIGHT SKY...BUT SILK TAKES IT! Ali's entertaining cameo comes to an end. Slow delivery on a fuller length, and it's fair to say that it was in the hitting arc. Ali slogs but only got the elevation but not the distance as Silk settles under it and pouches it safely
Asif Ali c Jordan Silk b Naveen-ul-Haq 41 (13b 4x4 3x6)
13.1 Naveen-ul-Haq to Asif Ali, FOUR! Crunched! Where were you hiding, Asif Ali? Fuller and wide of off-stump, Ali drills it past extra cover and it races to the fence
20 off 6 now! Hold on to your seats!
13.1 Naveen-ul-Haq to Joel Paris, WIDE! Slow delivery sliding down the leg-side, Parris misses the flick and they sneak a bye
My word! What a cameo Asif Ali is playing! He has got the Hurricanes back in the hunt out of nowhere! They now need 22 runs off the last six balls and will be backing themselves to the hilt.

12.5 Hayden Kerr to Asif Ali, SIX! Ali is giving a glimmer of hope and it's not over yet! Once again a slow delivery into the surface, Ali sees the length and deposits it over deep mid-wicket
12.4 Hayden Kerr to Asif Ali, FOUR! Pitched up on a fuller angling around off-stump, Ali tries to swing down the ground but gets a thick outside edge and it flies over short third man and into the fence
12.3 Hayden Kerr to Asif Ali, SIX! Slow delivery on a good length on leg-stump, Ali swings it cleanly and it goes over deep mid-wicket
