Matthew Short, Player of the Match: Unbelievable game. Hose batted extremely well today. I am so happy. With the interruption that we had in the past, to be able to win this game was fantastic for us. We love the crowd here. They are always loud and come out to support us. We love every bit of playing at the Adelaide Oval. The pitch is quite batter-friendly, and we always love batting here.

What a match this was! Especially, what an innings! Both Matthew Short and D'Arcy Short put on a real show with the bat chasing 200 and scored 139 runs together. That was the highest opening partnership against Sydney Thunder ever! The first wicket, of the skipper, fell in the fifth ball of the 13th over. At that point of time, it looked as though the game was in Adelaide Strikers' pocket.
But, things changed from what looked like a simple Strikers victory to a really impressive comeback from the Thunder. Neither D'Arcy Short nor Chris Lynn could get themselves going the way they would have liked.
There were lots of bit shots attempted, but, most of them got mistimed for ones. The boundaries kind of dried up. Then, Short got dismissed by a brilliant yorker from Daniel Sams!
Jake Weatherald and Chris Lynn took the Power Surge in the 18th over not to leave anything late. But, it produced the wicket of Lynn with a beauty of a straight yorker from Zaman Khan! Still, three wide deliveries cost his side and him three boundaries.
Three more boundaries were struck against Nathan McAndrew in the second over of the Surge and the Strikers required only 8 runs to win off the last 6 balls.
Quite surprisingly, skipper Chris Green did not bowl himself out. So, it was left of Zaman to try and defend the runs. It started off with a direct-hit run out at the non-striker's end as Weatherald ran casually without grounding his bat and got found out by Zaman himself!
However, Adam Hose made light work of things in the next three deliveries by scoring 10 runs and finishing unbeaten with a strike rate of 311.11 to take his side home in front of the home crowd!
With this, the Strikers register their first win of the tournament after a washout at the same venue but the Thunder suffer their second straight loss.

Zaman picks the ball up and scores a direct hit at the non-striker's end. Weatherald is well short of his crease and is RUN OUT, as the replays confirm! He should have slid his bat while running, but he chose not to do so, and that was the end of him.
