The Sixers have shown why they are in the top! They have outplayed the batters in the second innings and the batters had no reply to this attack at all. The match started with one wicket but there was some hope as the batters were hitting the ball from time to time until the drinks break. But after the drinks break, it felt like they had drank some wicket taking tips instead of water as there was no looking back for the Sixers. They did not let a single batter set in and it was not Humpty Dumpty who had a great fall today, it was the batting line up of the Sydney Thunder as they lost a wicket in almost every over after the 10th one and the Sixers did not miss those catches at all. The only big runs came in the 11th over with 14 off it but it surely was not going to be enough for the batters as they had a mountain to climb which they couldn't and it looks like it's the Sixers that have won the battle of the Sydney Smash and they will look to enjoy this beautiful day of cricket on boxing day with a win! The D/L due to the rains was not too kind on the Thunder today and they will look to win the games to come in this tournament.
Thank you so much for joining us for yet another exciting contest. This is Navjeevan Rajput and Pranav Danani signing off. Until next time.
Sixers won by 30 runs (D/L method)
Dan Christian (Player of the match): I was lucky it came off tonight I have been trying to attack right from ball one and finally it came off today. The boys were great, Moises started with the attack and everyone picked up from there. The Thunder bat very deep and we surely couldn't keep things loose. I think we have got really good depth. Today everyone chipped in providing an all round contribution. We have got the guys who can get the job done.
15.1 Sean Abbott to Tanveer Sangha, DONE AND DUSTED!! On the length and on the stumps, Tanveer lifts that away towards deep mid-wicket but finds Silk in the deep who executes the reverse cup to perfection. With that, the Sixers come out on top in this Sydney Smash on Boxing Day!
