Laura Wolvaardt is the Player of the Match!
Adelaide Strikers Women win by 3 runs!
Laura Wolvaardt 70* (61) | Megan Schutt - 2/23 (4) Tahlia Wilson 33 (23) | Marizanne Kapp - 2/23 (4)
This was a match which was very much done and dusted till the 16th over or so in the second innings but suddenly, a flurry of runs from both ends saw the final over of the match get really interesting!
Adelaide Strikers Women, who bossed the innings from start through to the middle, felt the pressure of the 7th wicket partnership between Tahlia Wilson and Sammy-Jo Johnson big time and ended up giving away far too many runs for their liking.
The equation came down to 9 runs required off 6 balls. It had to then be three dot balls first up from Anesu Mushangwe to derail the hopes of a superb comeback win. Eventually, the Strikers Women were the victors. But they will be wondering how they let their opponents in this towards the end!
Like in the first innings, boundaries came in numbers towards the end here. However, the batting from the Sydney Thunder Women up to the beginning of the 7th wicket stand was highly disappointing. It is as if without a Chamari Atapattu or a Phoebe Litchfield firing, they are cut to size as a batting unit.
But this is yet another impressive win for the defending champions, a win under extreme pressure right from the word go! Always handy to get these under the belt before the bigger ones coming up just to get used to all kinds of challenges.

19.6 Anesu Mushangwe to Lauren Smith, FOUR! MUSHANGWE HOLDS ON TO HER NERVE! What a thriller of an encounter this turned out to be as Mushangwe defends 9 of the final over to give her team a win here. Length delivery on the stumps, Smith has a wild slog and goes one bounce into the ropes at deep mid-wicket but it doesn't matter as Strikers pull off a incredible win here.
Lauren Smith, RHB, is at the crease.
19.5 Anesu Mushangwe to Tahlia Wilson, OUT! HOLES OUT AT DEEP MID-WICKET! Sensational final over from Mushangwe. Wilson skips down the track for the short delivery, looks to heave but has skied it and Mack comes around and pouches it safely.
Tahlia Wilson c Katie Mack b Anesu Mushangwe 33 (23b, 5x4, 0x6)
Eight runs needed from two legitimate balls.
19.4 Anesu Mushangwe to Sammy-Jo Johnson, length delivery, drifts into the batter. Johnson shimmies down the track and lifts it over mid-wicket for just one.
Three dot balls in a row! 9 runs to get off 3 balls.
19.3 Anesu Mushangwe to Sammy-Jo Johnson, fires the length delivery on the leg-stump, Johnson down the track and goes for another ugly hock and misses, thuds on the pad. Three dots, what an over from Mushangwe so far.
Nine runs to get off four balls!
19.2 Anesu Mushangwe to Sammy-Jo Johnson, OH! Missed stumping chance, but it's a dot ball. Johnson down the track, has a big heave and misses, keeper fumbles to collect.
Nine runs to get off five balls.
19.1 Anesu Mushangwe to Sammy-Jo Johnson, OH! Length delivery, drifts into the batter. Johnson down the track has a wild swing across the line and misses, pings on the pad.
Anesu Mushangwe [3.0-0-19-1] comes back into the attack.
Last over coming up! Sydney Thunder Women need 9 runs from the last 6 balls to win this and to be honest, this partnership deserves the applause it is getting for taking it deep and giving the team hope of reaching the finish line.

18.6 Megan Schutt to Tahlia Wilson, FOUR! Crucial boundary to cap off the over. Change of pace, back of a length on the middle and leg. Wilson gets inside the line and swipes it past the man inside the ring, runs away down to fine-leg and finds the ropes.
18.5 Megan Schutt to Sammy-Jo Johnson, around the wicket, nails the yorker, right up in the blockhole. Johnson digs it out to long-off for just a single.
Schutt is coming round the wicket now to Johnson.
18.4 Megan Schutt to Tahlia Wilson, short outside the off-stump, Wilson fetches it and pulled it to deep mid-wicket for just one.
