Chattogram Challengers won by 8 wickets Tom Bruce 51*(44) | Bilal Khan 3/24(4) Harry Tector 45(42) | Tanzim Sakib 1/19(2)
A convincing win for Chattogram Challengers by 8 wickets who have handed the Sylhet Strikers their fourth consecutive loss. Sylhet won the toss and opted to bat but they never got going. Having lost both their openers in the powerplay, Harry Tector and Zakir Hasan stitched a 50-run partnership but after the partnership was broken the batters struggled for runs. Some immaculate bowling and intetnless batting meant that the Sylhet Strikers only managed their way to 137 with Harry Tector top-scoring with them for 45. Bilal Khan was the star performer with the ball as he got 3 wickets in the match; 2 in the powerplay and 1 in the death.
137 was never going to be enough on this track and that is what the batters of Chattogram Challengers proved. Avishka started with a flurry of boundaries but got out soon after. Post that, an 89-run partnership between Tanzid Hasan and Tom Bruce made sure that the chase was very comfortable. Tanzid got out after scoring a fifty while Tom Bruce remained not out after scoring his fifty to take the Chattogram Challengers home.
Shuvagata Hom (Chattogram Challengers captain): I think the top-order batting has made things easier for us. When they score in the manner that they have, it helps a lot. Bilal Khan was pretty impressive and the rest of the bowling too chipped in according to their roles.
Bilal Khan has been awarded as the Player of Match! Here is what he has to say.
Bilal Khan: I keep it simple and stick to my strengths, so, that works well for me. I always try to get the new ball to swing. This wicket was a bit slow but then I'm glad I could manage things.
It is now time for the post-match presentation!
Mashrafe Mortaza (Sylhet Strikers captain): Losing four games in a row is disappointing. But, we have a match tomorrow here which we would try and win. I think credit has to go to Chattogram for bowling well but our top-order batting is not helping at all. I think when two set batters were there, we needed to score 10 RPO but that did not happen and it made a difference for sure.
Chattogram Challengers have registered a third consecutive win and move to the top of the points table while Sylhet Strikers slip to their fourth loss in as many matches. They win by 8 wickets. Stay tuned for the post-match presentations!
