Match summary: Tamil Nadu beat Bangladesh XI by 50 runs (VJD method).
As comprehensive a display as it can get from Tamil Nadu. They are gearing up for the Vijay Hazare Trophy in style and with two wins from as many games, this will add a nice spring to their step. It was all set up by their batters, led by a stunning 69-ball unbeaten 100 by Shahrukh Khan that powered them to 307/5 in 47 overs. Rain reduced three overs off their essay and the revised target for Bangladesh was 310 in 47 overs.
Despite losing Mahmudul Hasan Joy second ball, Saif Hassan came out batting like a million dollars. Finding the fence at will, he used the pace on the ball and dispatched anything loose to lead the Bangladeshi charge with the experienced Anamul Haque for company. But it was the wicket of Saif that saw things unravel for the visitors as from 56/1, they crumbled to 67/5 as a superb bowling and fielding display from the hosts saw them storm into the driver's seat.
Towhid Hridoy and Taijul Islam then combined to resiurrect the innings, although the escalating asking rate took the equation out of bounds for Bangladesh. Taijul in particular, failed to find a new gear to his innings and even as Jaker Ali stitched together a solid partnership of his own with Hridoy, it was just a case of the visitors going through their motions.
Hridoy brought up a fine half-century and the duo went on the attack at last. That's when the light intervened to bring the contest to an abrupt halt with Tamil Nadu comfortably ahead. Their bowlers put in a fine show with Manimaran Siddharth in particular standing out with a nagging spell, although Baba Indrajith was more than happy to give his part-timers a good workout as well. Two more games to go in the series and with a 2-0 lead under their belt, Tamil Nadu are riding a much-needed wave of confidence after an early exit at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Bangladesh will benefit from this experience, but they must look to address some issues both with the ball as well as the bat.
Handshakes around. The players from both sides exchange handshakes and that is that. Tamil Nadu are 50 runs ahead at this stage and it's a comfortable victory for the hosts Tamil Nadu win by 50 runs (VJD method).
It's starting to get dark now at the Chepauk and the umpires converge. They feel it's dark enough for the players to be ushered off and off they go! It has been a really good comeback in the last few overs by Bangladesh XI although the result is a foregone conclusion if the asking rate is anything to go by. It remains to be seen if this game continues or not though but the commentators on air mention that it could just be a passing cloud.

39.6 N Surangarajan Chaturved to Jaker Ali, good length ball on middle-and-leg, Jaker stepped out, got foxed a bit by the lack of pace, still tapped it to the short mid-wicket area somehow and picked up a quick single!
39.5 N Surangarajan Chaturved to Jaker Ali, short on off, chopped to point off the back foot, for no run.
39.4 N Surangarajan Chaturved to Towhid Hridoy, short on middle, tapped to the left of the keeper off the back foot, to pick up a single against the spin!
39.3 N Surangarajan Chaturved to Towhid Hridoy, FOUR MORE! Short and wide outside off, cut away off the back foot in the gap, and down to deep point for a boundary!
That was absolutely butchered by Hridoy!
39.2 N Surangarajan Chaturved to Towhid Hridoy, SHOT! Good length ball outside off, googly, Towhid might have picked it as he slog-swept it in the gap, in front of square, for a one bounce FOUR!
39.1 N Surangarajan Chaturved to Towhid Hridoy, good length ball outside off, Towhid steps out and goes for a big hit over mid-on, gets a thick outside edge over short third man, and gets a couple of runs for his efforts!
A halt in play here as a tiring Hridoy and Jaker both have a drink. Baba Indrajith is seen keenly discussing tactics with Narayan Jagadeesan and Shahrukh Khan.
Not the best of finishes to Siddharth's spell but he has had a fine outing nonetheless. Is that six a sign that Hridoy is looking to switch gears?
