That brings us to the end of our coverage of this match. There's another Abu Dhabi T10 game to come - Bangla Tigers will take on the New York Strikers in just over half an hour's time! Click here to follow our coverage of the same. This is Rajarshi, signing off for now. See you in a bit!
Charith Asalanka, The Chennai Braves captain: Really proud of the effort from the boys. Jason Roy smashed everywhere, superb knock. Cooky was amazing with his powerplay overs, very proud. As a team, it's good to start things with a win. Bowlers did well, and so did Jason with the bat.
Jason Roy is the Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: We just wanted to start well tonight. Incredible couple of days together, and to have a tight match like that is a good thing. It was touch and go, the wicket was very good and the wind was playing a part. Runs on the board makes a difference. The boys bowled well and held their own tonight. T10's a load of fun. It's a great competition, the crowd have been fantastic, hope to stay here for the rest of the week.
Match summary:
The Chennai Braves win by 4 runs
Jason Roy 84*(39) | Sam Cook 1/14 (2) Leus du Plooy 47*(18) | Dwaine Pretorius 2/21 (2)
What a humdinger this turned out to be! The game had ample ebbs and flows - it swung both ways throughout the run-chase, and in the end, Obed McCoy held his nerve and defended 21 off the final over! Leus du Plooy tried his level best - the Hungary-born left-hander unleashed an entire range of strokes, but couldn't connect with the most vital delivery eventually!
Colin Ingram's struggle at the other end didn't help the cause of Team Abu Dhabi. The veteran South African, in as a sub for Tymal Mills, struggled to read the pace and length off the hand, wasn't able to middle the ball on several occasions, and ended up inflicting some pressure on his batting partner towards the latter part of the chase.
Sam Cook was the pick of the bowlers - he used his variations to the best effect, hit the right lengths at will, and went for just 14 in his two overs along with a wicket. Imran Tahir had du Plooy in a string in between as well, those middle overs turned out to be decisive in the end. In spite of a fast start, Team Abu Dhabi couldn't quite kick on. Onto the presentations now...
