Thanks a lot for tuning in here for the last game of the day in the ECS. We move on to the playoffs tomorrow. Allow us to take your leave today. This is Mohul Bhowmick signing off on behalf of Rajarshi Das. Until next time, ciao!
Pak Riders beat Vienna CC by 19 runs!
Sikandar Hayat 55* (24) | Daniel Eckstein 2/8 Mark Simpson-Parker 32 (18) | Adeljan Sardar 2/13
Mark Simpson-Parker held the key for Vienna CC, but after his dismissal in the seventh over of this innings, the game tilted completely in favour of Pak Riders. Abdullah Akbarjan tried his best to take his team closer to the target, but the bowlers of the Riders were tough to deal with.
A lot was expected of veteran Daniel Eckstein, but unfortunately, he could not quite get going today. Vienna CC kept losing wickets at regular intervals and this is what allowed the Riders to come back strongly into the game. Simpson-Parker getting run out changed the tide completely, and there is no saying how the game would have turned out to be if he had remained at the crease.
He was in good nick today, having scored consecutive fifties earlier, and was looking good for more. Pak Riders will be extremely pleased with this result, although it will play no big part in their qualifying for the playoffs starting tomorrow.
