India the deserved winners in the 1st ODI but the West Indies spinners will definitely take some confidence going into the 2nd ODI. Like always, it was a pleasure bringing all the live coverage for this encounter. Keep following Sportskeeda for all the latest sporting actions. Lots of cricketing action coming up tomorrow from early morning with the MLC game. But for now, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Karthik Raj. Goodnight! Cheers!
Rohit Sharma (India captain): Yeah to be honest I never thought the pitch eas gonna play like that. It was the teams need to bowl first. It had everything for seamers and spinners but to restrict them to that score was a superb effort from the bowlers. It did for a bit. We wanted to give chances to the other guys. We didn't think we would lose 5 wickets. We will keep trying those things as and when we feel it. We had the commanding position and decided to give some of the guys a go. Whenever we get an opportunity, we will try to accommodate those guys. Reminded me of my early days. Perhaps the last time I batted at No 7 was my debut match. Mukesh has bowled brilliantly, he has pace. I haven't seen much of him in domestic cricket and it's nice to see him bowl well. Our bowlers did stick to their plan and Ishan was good with the bat.
Shai Hope (West Indies skipper): (On this thoughts about the performance) Not too many words come to my mind. We need to find ways to score. Not making excuses. We have to find a way to score on surfaces like these. Will be challenging but have to find a way. (About Jayden Seales) He is a bright prospect and hope he continues to grow from strength to strength. The Indian bowlers were very good but we didn't score enough
Kuldeep Yadav, Player of the Match: (How he would rate his performance) Perfect, the fast bowlers bowled very well, Mukesh, the debutant was very good. Me and Jadeja bowled in good areas which was important on this wicket. Just been focusing on my rhythm and it has been amazing for the last one year. Been working on the lengths and it is coming out nicely. People say that it is a seamers' paradise but we are glad to get seven wickets amongst the spinners from our side. It is always good to have competition. When you have a senior like Chahal who helps you, we have been playing together for 5-6 years. We just enjoy each others' company
Despite a below-par effort with the bat, the West Indies bowlers put on an inspiring show and depsite India winning the first ODI by 5 wickets, they will definitely take a lot of confidence going into the 2nd encounter. Despite the hiccup in the middle overs, India eventually managed to chase it down with relative ease, winning by 5 wickets and with more than 27 overs to spare.
It was Shubman Gill who came out to open the innings in the company of Ishan Kishan. Both batters showed a cautious approach and didn't really look to finish it off early. They batted sensibly and rotated the strike besides finding the occasional boundaries. It was Gill who was the first to depart when he nicked an away swinging delivery from Jayden Seales straight to the slip cordon.
Out came Suryakumar Yadav at No 3 and he came out with a positive frame of mind. A trademark whipped flicked over fine leg followed by a couple of crisp cover drives was the highlight of his innings before his departure on a personal score of 19. It was Hardik who came out at No 4 and looked a bit rusty before departing in an unfortunate manner.
Ishan Kishan played a beauty of a knock and wasn't really troubled by any of the spinners. His knock was mixed with caution and aggression and went onto score his 4th ODI fifty. He departed soon after his half-century as he tried to go for a slog of the bowling or Gudakesh Motie. Along with Yannic Cariah, the two spinners created a bit of pressure which resulted in the fall of 5 wickets.
It was Rohit Sharma who came out to bat at No 7 and saw his side through in the company of Ravindra Jadeja. Rohit struck an exquisite reverse sweep and settled all the nerves. Both Rohit and Virat wanted the other batters to get a run in but with India losing their way, Rohit had to come in and finish it off for India. He smashed a boundary of Motie to seal the deal for the Men in Blue.
22.5 Gudakesh Motie to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! Full delivery, Rohit goes down on his knee and sweeps it through square-leg for a boundary. With that, India seal a comfortable five-wicket victory with more than 27 overs to spare!
22.4 Gudakesh Motie to Rohit Sharma, BEATEN! Full and drifting in, Rohit comes forward to defend while the ball turns past the outside-edge
22.3 Gudakesh Motie to Rohit Sharma, straightening off a length, Rohit defends it to short extra-cover. No run
22.2 Gudakesh Motie to Rohit Sharma, dragged down outside-off, Rohit turns it to mid-wicket. No run
22.1 Gudakesh Motie to Rohit Sharma, touch short outside-off, Rohit punches it to short extra-cover. No run
India just a solitary run away from victory and Ravindra Jadeja decided to hand over to his captain and finish it off.

21.1 Yannic Cariah to Ravindra Jadeja, turning in from a length, Jadeja goes deep and defends it to the bowler. No run
Another tidy over from Motie but India inching closer towards the victory target. Just 5 away from taking a 1-0 lead in the series but the Windies spinners will be pretty inspired with that effort.
