Hayley Matthews (captain, West Indies): Just they way we have bowled and restricted them to 99 was well. The way Qiana Joseph came out and did it in the powerplay along with Deandra and Joseph in the end. With the ball, we did a good job overall. (On net run rate) It was being discussed and we were looking at how to go about it and when Joseph was in the middle we thought we could have a go. Just take it one game at a time, we have Bangladesh in Sharjah next and a couple of crucial games ahead. We have a good couple of plans as we aim to make it to the semi-finals spot
Kathryn Bryce (captain, Scotland): We were in the game for the early part of the target defence but with the firepower they have it gets tough. You need to take every opportunity and take the half chances that come. It was a bit tricky in the middle, Henry bowled well and it got tough to get the boundaries. To get to around 120 would have helped us. I think I was trying to give them knowledge and help them play their natural game. The wickets have been different to what they have played on usual
Chinelle Henry (Player of the Match): I just want to thank my teammates and coaches for trusting my abilities. When I came into bat, we had a discussion and the intention was to take care of the net run rate. It's about backing our skills and executing well. The pitch was a bit slow, our strategy was attacking the batters and the wickets, bowl straight, and we reaped the rewards. Batting was difficult, but we hard a clear plan. Matthews is a world class player, but if she fails one day, we have plenty of batters in the arsenal. Qiana Joseph really well. She came in and played the role we had asked her of.
That was over in some time! West Indies needed to chase it down in a canter and boy oh boy have they done so. They have their first win of the tournament and have fixed their net run rate to some extent as well.
There were some troubles early on as Stafanie Taylor and Hayley Matthews walked back to the hut cheaply. Qiana Joseph, who was promoted up the order made hay when the sun was out as she smoked the ball to all corners of the park. Joseph hit a quick fire 30 before she and Shemaine Campbell were dismissed soon after. Later, Deandra Dottin and Chinelle Henry made light work of the chase and ended it with a few lusty blows.
Scotland had a promising show with the ball in hand but lost their way. Olivia Bell was their pick of the bowlers, scalping half of the wickets to fall. Later it was Priyanaz Chatterji and Rachel Slater who picked up a wicket each but were a tad bit expensive as the Windies batters took them to all nooks and corners of the park.
Let's go down now to hear what the player of the match and the captains have to say
11.4 Abtaha Maqsood to Deandra Dottin, SIX! Dottin gets the ball and the West Indies over the line. A thumping win for the Caribbean ladies! Shimmies down the track and clubs it over the cow corner fence
11.3 Abtaha Maqsood to Deandra Dottin, FOUR! And out comes the reverse sweep! Hits it between point and short third. The fielder gives it the chase but there's no stopping it
11.2 Abtaha Maqsood to Deandra Dottin, SIX! BOOM! Dottin is showcasing her full range now. Dances down the track and smokes it right off the meat of the bat
11.1 Abtaha Maqsood to Chinelle Henry, tossed up full on the stumps. Drills the ball down to long-on
Back to back boundaries in the over and now the runs required drops to below 20 runs. West Indies will be aiming to do that in an over but is it possible, we can't say anything. West Indies need 16 runs to win off 54 balls
