So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj as I wrap up the coverage of this fixture. Do switch over to the second ECS Switzerland game of the day. There is a lot more cricket coming up in the form of the LPL and the final ODI between the West Indies and India as well. Enjoy all those action while I take your leave for now
What an amazing game to kick-start Tuesday as the two teams combined to score 323 runs with Wettingen prevailing by seven-run margin. Chasing 166 for victory was always going to be challenging and Zurich Lions got off to a bad start as Akash Wadhwa departed in the first over itself. Yet, Ankush Lal and Senthil Lakshmanan ensured a fantastic Powerplay with the team scoring 55 runs off the first three overs. Just as the Lions were getting into a dominant position, Nareshkumar Thangavadivel removed Senthil in the fourth over.
Ankush carried on with his belligerent striking at one end but Perinpam Yogenthiran two wickets off two balls in the sixth over to put Wettingen ahead. Yet, the Lions didn't give up as the pair of Ankush and skipper Kanishk Shah managed to score 55 runs between the seventh and ninth over. They also got an extra advantage as Wettingen failed to start the final over on time and a five-run penalty was applied. Requiring 16 off the final over, the Lions seemed to be ahead but Nirojan Manikkavasakar trapped Ankush in front off the very first over. Then, Saravanakumar Subramani was run-out off the very next delivery as the the batting side started to feel the pressure. Shah held on and reduced the equation to nine off three balls but there were two run-outs off the next two balls including that of the skipper himself. The game was done before the last delivery but Nirojan still found the perfect finish as he bowled a pin-point yorker to castle Amit Kumar
