A thoroughly dominating performance by West Indies to win the series 1-0. It was always on the cards, especially given the fact that Zimbabwe last played a Test match about 18 months ago. They did put a strong resistance in the opening Test but that wasn't the case on this occasion. However, they should be proud of some of the individual performances and take it forward from here on. Kraigg Brathwaite (West Indies captain): Very proud of the team. Coming into the 2nd game we had a plan, it was a great all-round performance. Well we can’t control it (speaking on the rain), going at today we knew we had to get some runs quickly which we didn’t get. It was good to see we got 10 wickets today. I think Shanon Gabriel, Jason Holder did a great job and allowed Motie to apply pressure. Well, I was backing my bowlers to do the job, I did bowl an over but I think the bowler did a fantastic job. They have to keep improving and take it from here on. I think at the beginning of the tour we knew we had four matches in Africa. Really looking forward to the South Africa challenge.
Gudakesh Motie is unsurprisingly the Player of the Match. He is also the Player of the Series for topping the wicket-charts. Here's what he has to say: I'm very happy about it. Been looking forward to it for a while now. I had a few games back in my territory. Basically I had a lot of practice coming into this series. I'm very happy - as I said before, back in my country the wickets are similar. So I tried to put the ball in the right areas.
Craig Ervine (Zimbabwe captain): I thought winning the toss on that first day, we needed to bat well. Unfortunately that didn't go the way we planned and that put us on the back foot right from the start. Always nice to get some runs under your belt. Unfortunately it didn't really contribute too much to the cause today. We only had 7-10 days to get ready for this Test series but we had really good preparations leading into this series. We can't use that as an excuse. I thought we prepared really well. (On Ballance) He's such an experienced player and he brought a lot of stability to that middle-order in the first Test. Him missing this second Test showed the hole he left behind. (On the bowlers) For Vicky (Nyauchi) to come and pick up five wickets on that track was fantastic. Brandon has been sitting up for a while now - good to see him back in the fold. We've got our domestic T20 competition coming up in the next few days. We'll shift our focus to that and it's back to the white-ball stuff before we play the Netherlands.

This turned out to be an utterly dominating performance by West Indies as they ease past Zimbabwe by an innings and 4 runs to take the 2-match series 1-0. The rain did play spoilsport for the major part of Day 2 but after bowling out Zimbabwe for just 114 in the first innings, time was never going to be a factor. Just like the first two days, the 3rd and the final day of the Test match also belonged to the visitors, as they skittled out Zimbabwe for 173 in their 2nd essay.
West Indies lost a couple of quick wickets on Day 3 after a delayed start to wet outfield conditions and ended upp taking a sizeable lead by 177 runs. They were aware of the impending weather around and came out all gunz blazing to firmly push Zimbabwe on the backfoot right from the word go. They lost Makoni and Chibhabha early but Innocent Kaia made sure that Zimbabwe got a bit of semblance in the middle in the company of Craig Ervine.
The duo shared a 41-run stand before Gudakesh Motie unleashed his magic edging out Kaia with a beautiful delivery. It was the start of many more for Motie as he literally ran through the middle and the lower order to hand West Indies a convincing win. Motie was at the peak of his game as he made full use of the helpful conditions on offer and the Zimbabwe batters had no answers whatsoever. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals but Craig Ervine held fort at one end.
Brandon Mavuta was the 3rd batter to have crossed double digits and tried to stitch a partnership with Ervine to make Windies bat again. After the tea interval, Mavuta played a couple of attacking shots before perishing at the hands of Roston Chase. In the end, it was Motie who finished proceedings with two more wickets of Craig Ervine and Tanaka Chivanga.
It was Craig Ervine who won the toss on Day 1 and without any hesitation opted to bat. However, Zimbabwe couldn’t quite make use of the conditions and was bowled out inside the 41st over. The first innings also belonged to Gudakesh Motie who spun a web around the Zimbabwe top and the middle order as wickets kept tumbling one after the other. They couldn’t quite pick his variations and kept surrendering meekly. Innocent Kaia was the top scorer for Zimbabwe in the 1st innings, scoring 38.
West Indies batted well in their 1st innings but didn’t really manage to run away with the game. The conditions weren't quite easy as they were bowled out for 292. Roston Chase and Raymon Reifer scored half-centuries but Zimbabwe bowled their heart out and kept themselves in the game. Victor Nyauchi was the pick of the bowlers, bagging a fifer while Mavuta also chipped in with 3 wickets. The lead was enough for West Indies to enforce an innings defeat.
So that brings us to the end of the Test match. It happened rather quickly after the tea interval and West Indies will be satisfied with how things have panned out on Day 3. The rain stayed away and West Indies was utterly dominant in their approach, winning the game comprehensively by an innings and 4 runs.
47.3 Gudakesh Motie to Victor Nyauchi, STUMPED! IT'S ALL OVER! Motie has 13 for the match and it's poetic that he has the final say in the contest! Tosses it up full outside the off stump and Nyauchi cannot resist stepping out and looking to whack it across the line. Beaten comfortably by the turn as it settles into Da Silva's gloves who then duly dislodges the bails before Nyauchi drags his foot back. A dominant display by the visitors and they ensure they do it without having to bat twice. West Indies win by an innings and 4 runs to take the series 1-0!
