A 10-men Uruguay have knocked out Brazil 4-2 on penalties. Bielsa's men continue their winning run as they progress to the semifinal and will now face an in-form Colombia. Overall, it was a very scrappy game with plenty of fouls and bookings. However, on penalties, Eder Militao and Douglas Luiz scuffed their chances for Brazil. Uruguayan goalkeeper Sergio Rochet was also exceptional throughout the game and also proved his worth in the shootout under immense pressure. 

Ugarte walks up to the spot and he dispatches it past Alisson, winning it for Uruguay. Uruguay 4-2 Brazil. 

Martinelli is the next player for Brazil and he calmly slots it past Rochet. Uruguay 3-2 Brazil. 

Gimenez takes the responsibility to finish it off. But Alisson has other ideas as he comes up with a save. Brazil are still in the game. Uruguay 3-1 Brazil. 

Douglas Luiz walks up to the spot for Brazil and he hits the post. Uruguay have a massive advantage now. Uruguay 3-1 Brazil. 

Arrascaeta is next to Uruguay as he hits the roof of the net, giving Alisson no chance. Brilliant penalty! Uruguay 3-1 Brazil. 

Andreas Pereira steps up next for Brazil and he sends Rochet the wrong way as the Selecaos get on board. Uruguay 2-1 Brazil. 

Bentancur walks to the spot and thumps it past Alisson in the right bottom corner. Uruguay 2-0 Brazil. 

Militao is the chosen man for Brazil. Rochet readies himself in goal. The Real Madrid defender goes down the right side but Rochet comes up with a fantastic save. Early advantage for Uruguay. Uruguay 1-0 Brazil. 

Valverde steps up to take Uruguay's first penalty. He calmly slots it past Alisson to hand Uruguay the lead. Uruguay 1-0 Brazil. 

Three out of four quarterfinals in the 2024 Copa America have been decided on penalty shootouts. 

FULL TIME: Uruguay 0-0 Brazil

That's all from regulation time in the match between Uruguay and Brazil. It was a very scrappy second half with more fouls than chances. Tackles were flying in from left, right and centre. The game was titled towards Brazil after Nahitan Nandez was sent off for a horrible challenge on Rodrygo. However, Brazil still struggled to create chances even when Uruguay were a man down. Rochet commanded his penalty box well and was very vocal with his defenders. Now it depends on the efficiency of the penalty-takers and the heroics of the two goalkeepers. 

90+4' We are moving to penalties with every passing second. 

90+3' Brazil move the ball around patiently but they are unable to break this Uruguayan backline. Uruguay's midfield have forced Brazil to push the ball back. 

90+1' A total of five minutes are added on to the regulation time. 

90' Reminder there's no extra time in Copa America and if the scores are level after ninety minutes, the match will be decided on penalties. 

89' It has been a very scrappy second half with a lot of tackles and cards. Overall, it has been a very physical game. 

87' Two changes for Brazil as Evanilson and Martinelli replace Guimaraes and Rodrygo. Dorival must have penalties on his mind while making these changes. 

84' CHANCE! A beautiful buildup from Brazil sees Endrick get the ball just outside the penalty area. He was exceptional with his control and he got his shot away in no time. But it was not enough to test Rochet. 

83' Uruguayan goalkeeper Rochet is on the ground with a lot of pain as he most probably hyper extended his calf muscle during a collection. After some treatment, the custodian is back on his feet. It surely got Bielsa tensed as he is out of substitutions. 

82' Three changes for Brazil as Savio, Douglas Luis and Andreas Pereira come on in place of Paqueta, Raphinha and Gomes. 

81' A good buildup from Brazil ends with Raphinha's cross, which is parried away by Rochet and thankfully it doesn't fall for a Brazilian player. 

78' Double change for Uruguay as Arrascaeta and Varela replace Nunez and Pellistri

77' Danilo unleashes a ball forward for Raphinha which Olivera fails to deal with but Caceres was in position to thwart away the danger. 

74'  URUGUAY ARE DOWN TO 10 MEN!

Nandez is sent off after the referee watches the replay. The VAR replays didn't look good for Nandez as his knees weren't bent while he lunged into the challenge and during the point of contact, Rodrygo's ankle could have been snapped. It was a horrible challenge from the defender, who now puts his team in a massive spot of bother. 

70' Nahitan Nandez becomes the latest player to get booked. The Uruguayan defender comes up with a late challenge on Rodrygo and catches his ankle. That could have been a potential red card for Nandez. 

67' Third change for Uruguay as Bentancur replaces De la Cruz in midfield. Bentancur will bring more control in the middle allowing Valverde more freedom to venture forward. 

64' Joao Gomes finally receives a yellow card as he makes another late challenge, this time to bring down Nandez. 

62' Every once in a while, Endrick is showing glimpses of what he can do with the ball. A long ball from deep finds Endrick in space, who drives into space before Gimenez steals the ball off him. He should have released Rodrygo on the left flank, who was totally free. 

60' A frustrated De la Cruz hacks down Rodrygo, who was moving into a nice pocket of space. He gets booked for the dangerous infringement. 

59' Gomes simply rugby tackles De la Cruz down to the ground and the referee just blows his whistle for a foul. No card whatsoever to everyone's astonishment. 

57' A good move from Brazil sees Rodrygo play Arana on the left flank, who fires in a beautiful cross towards Endrick. The youngster was in a good position to make most of that cross but his control let him down big time. Rochet collects the ball and launches it forward for Nunez, who again gets in behind the Brazilian defence before he squares it to Valverde and his effort was way wide. End-to-end football between the two teams. 

54' HUGE CHANCE! A long ball from midfield finds Nunez in space, who gets in behind the Brazilian backline. He almost squares it past Alisson but eventually, he takes a shot from a tight angle and it is blocked away by Marquinhos. There were some penalty appeals but VAR shows it struck him on his shoulder. 

52' Manuel Ugarte becomes the first Uruguayan player to get into the referee's book following a poor challenge. 

51' A brilliant buildup from Uruguay as De la Cruz finds Olivera on the left before he returns it to the midfielder. De la Cruz then delivers a looping ball into the penalty area to find Nunez but Militao headed it away from danger. 

49' A 1v1 tussle between Maxi Araujo and Militao as the latter gets the better of the Uruguayan winger before Araujo wrestles him off the ball. But the referee awards a free kick to Brazil. 

48' A good buildup from Uruguay as a long direct ball is fisted out by Alisson but it falls kindly for Valverde, who tries his luck from distance but his effort is too tame to test Alisson. 

46' A structural change from Uruguay as Caceres comes in for Vina. This sub will force Olivera to drift wide as a left-back while Caceres will partner Gimenez in the heart of the defence.

45' Uruguay begin the second half!

HALF TIME: Uruguay 0-0 Brazil

A feisty first 45 minutes where both teams didn't allow the other to control possession in midfield. While Uruguay enjoyed most of the possession, it was Brazil, who had more clear-cut chances. Darwin Nunez squandered an open header from five yards out of the target whereas Raphinha slammed the ball straight at Rochet with only the goalkeeper to beat. Lastly, Endrick had a very eventful first half as he troubled the Uruguayan backline with his pace and dogged approach. A very exciting 45 minutes await for the viewers. 

45+2' A dink pass from midfield finds Endrick in the box, in behind the Uruguayan defence. However, the youngster fails to control the bouncing ball. Eventually, Rochet parries the tricky ball before it was cleared away by Gimenez. 

45+1' Two minutes have been added on. 

45' Endrick holds the ball brilliantly despite the pressure from Olivera and Ugarte. He tries to find space and wrestles to retain possession. But eventually, Ugarta manages to steal the ball from him. A nice show of commitment from the youngster. 

43' Brazil have struggled to hold the possession in midfield. We have had tackles flying in by the Uruguayans whenever the Selecaos have received the ball in the middle. 

40' Endrick gets in behind the Uruguayan defence before Nandez steals the ball from him and Olivera barges onto him as he was going down. 

39' Paqueta is the first player to get booked as he makes a late challenge to bring down De la Cruz. 

35' MASSIVE! Brazil breaks forward in the subsequent buildup and it is Raphinha, who gets in behind the Uruguayan backline but his effort was kept out by Rochet. A huge opportunity for Dorival's men goes begging. 

34' HUGE CHANCE!!! A brilliant cross from Nandez on the right finds Nunez in the box. The Liverpool man rose the highest and unfortunately, the ball struck his should and went wide. It was a golden opportunity for the striker to break the deadlock for Uruguay. 

33' A forced change for Uruguay as Gimenez slots in central defence replacing the injured Araujo. 

32' Ronald Araujo is down on the ground in pain as the physios rush in for treatment. The defender is struggling as the physios suggest a substitution. 

30' It has been a tough outing for Joao Gomes, who is the least technical of the three Brazilian midfielders. He has been late to a few challenges with the likes of Pellistri, De la Cruz and Maxi Araujo setting the tone in the middle of the pitch. 

28' A poor backpass from Vina saw Endrick get the ball with only Rochet to beat as he lays it off to Raphinha but a moment's delay from the youngster allowed Nandez to clear the ball away before Raphinha could get there. A wakeup call for the Uruguayan defence. 

27' A brilliant free-kick from De la Cruz as he delivers a sensational ball and it drops right in front of three Uruguayan players. They get into a scramble and it is finally cleared by Militao. Later, the linesman flags it offside. 

25' Uruguay are stealing possession with their high-intensity pressing. Therefore Brazilian players are getting frustrated and Gomes came up with a late challenge on Pellistri. 

21' Uruguay are a major threat from setpieces, especially with the firepower of Nunez and Araujo. Even the likes of Olivera and Valverde are well adept at scoring from these positions. De la Cruz as a service provider has been commendable but he is yet to find the perfect ball in this match. 

20' Uruguay are gaining momentum in this match as they pour bodies forward and are incessantly winning corners. Brazil are already on the backfoot, defending. 

18' CHANCE!! An early opportunity for Uruguay as De la Cruz's corner finds Olivera in the box, completely unmarked but the centre-back fails to control the header and it goes way over the target. 

17' Uruguay breaks forward with the ball and Pellistri wriggles his way past defenders before sending in  a low cross which was blocked by Marquinhos.

16' Brazil steals the ball in the middle and Endrick is unleashed. However, he invites a foul from Valverde as he goes down to the ground. But the referee isn't interested to blow the whistle. 

14' De la Cruz gets into a tussle with Militao and the latter is dumped on the ground. The referee awards a freekick but no cards were shown just yet. Raphinha's effort from the free-kick was deflected wide. The opportunity fizzled out from the corner aswell. 

8' Uruguay have given Endrick no space whatsoever. The youngster has been closed down whenever he has touched the ball. It is like the Uruguayan players are welcoming him to the 'big boys club'. 

6' Brazil haven't been at their best going forward in this tournament and a lot of it depends on their fullbacks, who offer little to no help on the overlap. We hope that Danilo and Arana will push forward and provide their front three with more options going forward. 

2' Darwin Nunez fights for the ball against Arana on the right flank as it eventually trickles down for a goal-kick. Uruguay are looking to push forward through the right flank early on in the game. 

1' KICK OFF! We are underway at the Allegiant Stadium in Nevada as Brazil start the proceedings. 

The players are on the pitch as we gear up for the National Anthems! Kick Off is minutes away from now. 

“People are always saying that Brazil have to learn to play without our big stars," Brazil coach Dorival Junior said when asked about Vinicius Junior's suspension after the Colombia game. "I think now is the moment. Others will have to step up. That’s the way forward.”

The Brazil coach has backed the teenager and now it is up to him to show up against a top team. Endrick will probably play upfront with Rodrygo drifting wide on the left. Lucas Paqueta and Raphinha will also look to take up more responsibilities in Vinicius' absence. 

It is a massive opportunity for 17-year-old Endrick, who marks his first international start for Brazil. He appeared in all three games against Costa Rica, Paraguay and Colombia as a substitute but now he will shoulder the responsibility of filling in the void left by Vinicius Junior. A player with whom he will play at Real Madrid very soon.  Endrick, who is touted as the next big superstar to come out of Brazil will look to prove a point on the biggest stage against a very tough opponent. 

It is a big match for all of the 22 players and everyone that will be involved later in the game. But it is extra special for Matias Vina and Nicholas de la Cruz in particular. The Uruguayan duo play for Flamengo, the biggest club in Brazil. 

In other others, Colombia have stormed their way into the semifinal of the Copa America as they hammered Panama 5-0 in the quarterfinal, which started earlier today. James Rodriguez was the star for Colombia with two assists and a solitary goal. Jhon Cordoba, Luis Diaz, Richard Rios and Miguel Borja also registered their names on the scoresheet. They will now face the winner of this match between Brazil and Uruguay for a place in the final.  

Team News: Most coaches wouldn't make any drastic changes to their starting lineups after coming this far. However, Brazil's Dorival Junior was forced to replace Vinicius, who is suspended, and he has named Endrick as his replacement. He has also brought in Guilherme Arana replacing Wendell in the hope that he will offer more on the overlap. Meanwhile, Marcelo Bielsa has gone with the unchanged XI that he named in a dead rubber against USA.
